Decided to give into the hype and watch the first episode. Saw some people complaining about the CGI, but I thought the animation was fluid and well done. Interested to see where it goes. I barely watch anime anymore, so kind of fun to see what the medium is like these days.

The whole episode felt movie like with how a ton of shots were framed. Like everything before Denji becoming Chainsaw Man wouldn't feel out of place in zombie movie. Which makes sense considering Fujimoto himself.

With how much Fujimoto loves movies how can you say the OUATIH one is iffy? Its literally the same shot!! Like what other reason is there to include that specific behind the passengers car reversing shot with everyone posed that way if not to reference it?

The plants growing around her also include venus flytraps. Pretty clear signals. So much of the style and tone of this show is such a departure from anime it’s nuts. So so so cinematic. The ED being just credits weirdly surprised me. The CGI is basically perfect with one exception, right after he kills zombie. Otherwise it was rad.

I am guessing this season will end with Denji’s movie date with Makima since that’s right after Katana wraps up and right before Reze shows up. It would be a pretty decent spot to ‘end’ as well. Someone mentioned the Bomb Girl arc as being a movie and that sounds fairly reasonable. I’d rather it just be a season but considering how profitable anime movies have been recently, it could be a thing. Man, October kicks rear end.

I really need to take a break from the Chainsaw Man manga for like six months or so and then come back and read a whole bunch of chapters at once because these cliffhangers are killing me. It's funny how Yoku's reaction to finding out Denji is Chainsaw Man was just "Oh, that's disappointing" which, yeah, valid response. i'm trying to keep myself from reading too much into the early stuff now that i have the context of the end of part one, but when the zombie devil told his minions to eat denji to stop him from regenerating, that has to be deliberate foreshadowing on fujimoto's part, right?

I mean, Fujimoto named Aki "Aki" because of his meaningless love for Makima and for an AK-47. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd included that as deliberate foreshadowing, considering that he's said Denji and Makima's final fight was planned for from chapter 1.
