i appreciate their absolute commitment to being the intellectual concept of a dork made manifest and they have a few songs with catchy choruses

Just saw Fleshgod Apocalypse, with Omnium Gatherum opening - In a tiny venue. Fleshgod was immense, full upright piano, opera singer lady, it was an absolute assault. I mean, their music is so dense, but it was a shame we couldnt hear the guy on the piano at all. He looked like he was going for it, but with so much going on, it was drowned. Totally see them if you can, it was brutal and beautiful. Chatted to the guys from Omnium as I am half-finn, and they were super nice. gently caress, it;s good to be back at gigs.

Orden Ogan dropped off real hard after their third album.

Yes.
I'm all for dorky poo poo, power metal or otherwise, but Orden Ogan never really pushed my buttons. They're this type of modern power metal, where everything in a song hinges on some vaguely catchy chorus and maybe one other melodic hook, but nothing else is happening. I dunno, I'm probably full of poo poo and bad at articulating my impressions though.

I've asked this before, but it's worth asking again since it's probably been years: Have their been any remix/remaster projects in the metal realm that haven't been a downgrade from the original?

Only one I can think of is Nevermore's Enemies of Reality, and that's because the original release sounded like a bad Napster rip because the label only gave them like six bucks to do the mix.

the second the chasm album had a strange muddy sound originally, the reissues did a remaster and it sounds good now. svartsyn rerecorded their album the true legend and a lot of people like the rerecording better because you can hear what's going on way better(although the original isn't bad by any means)

Danielle Stampe aka Slymenstra was going off on Facebook on how they lied about the original GWAR women and how they were all liars in the band for only a show or two. Just non-stop for a couple weeks haha. Who gives a poo poo. Brockie and co. were the main appeal.

I missed that Dragonland put out their first new album in 11 years on the 14th! Was looking forward to this and listened on the way home yesterday - it's scifi themed which seems like a big departure from their old medieval stuff but it's still cool (and the talky bits are corny as gently caress).

Their second album, Holy War, is a loving classic IMO solid start to finish.

Worm has a mini album out titled Bluenothing. Some stuff that was recorded for last year's Foreverglade release but not put on the album and some not. It's a bit more slow and doomy than Foreverglade but it's pretty good:
