https://youtu.be/ljGNuMD63nI Last episode of Itzy in LA is very sweet, at the beginning of the trip they all got a “secret friend” that they were supposed to take as much video/photos as possible without making it known. Then at the end they all wrote letters to their secret friend and they got to read the letters written to them and watch a montage of the clips/photos their secret friend took. It sounds incredibly contrived and it is but also they all love each other so much that I left thinking “man I should tell my friends I love them more often” Also they get to eat tacos for the first time, which I’m kind of envious of

Na PD has the hosts WINNER Mino, Super Junior Kyuhyun and Sechskies Jiwon at a bar and they have to call old drinking buddies to come join them and whoever has the fewest show up has to pay for everyone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy6EFEPMOi4 also preview for starship ent episode at the end

DC Murderverse posted:. It sounds incredibly contrived and it is but also they all love each other so much that I left thinking “man I should tell my friends I love them more often” That’s kinda the wild thing about kpop. It’s one of the most hyper commercialized entertainment industries out there but that’s also what makes the real moments seem special because behind all that fake production there are still real people and the industry being what it is means their bonds are pretty unique too. Like, most of the time I feel like these people are doing a job and everything they do is all part of the show, but sometimes you get a glimpse of what feels like the curtain falling a bit. I definitely got teary eyed unexpectedly when Tzuyu (of all people) was crying during Cactus at the LA show and Jihyo saw her and started crying too. Seeing Jiu teary eyed but smiling so wide during their farewells got me too. Very hyped for the Itzy concert Saturday!

Bottom Liner posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cZ7o0Wn_dc Just to add some context for anyone who doesn't know what TripleS are, Acid Angel From Asia is a sub-unit of Triple s, Triple S is an announced 24 member group where not all members have been revealed (or selected) yet, it started out with two, then they added former MTG contestant Jiwoo and have been regularly revealing new people since then. They have been uploading daily eng subbed vlogs on their youtube channel since the beginning of the project basically. The general idea is that someday they will rotate through full group comebacks, sub-units, solos etc based on what fans want. Fans will have the ability to vote for who they want in which sub-units based on their own app. It's all kind of weird and ambitious?

Centusin posted:It's all kind of weird and ambitious? If it feels in any way similar to LOONA's debut rollout, that's not a coincidence. Jaden Jeong, who was creative director at Blockberry Creative and came up with the Loonaverse lore and the idea of the staggered solo member debuts and basically everything about LOONA pre-So What, is the big brains behind the TripleS project. Worth noting that JJ also drove BBC to the brink of bankruptcy with his ambitions before being let go, and only a surprise decision by Lee Soo-Man to executive produce the # album (spurred by, of all things, him watching LOONA's Cherry Bomb dance cover) saved the group and the company.

Diawings comeback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jemom9PivI They're not under a label, I'm unsure if they did music videos for their early stuff (or if it was on another distributor and/or under a different name or something). Apparently been around since 2018. They've got all the credits on writing/composing/etc. Listening to their debut song (they've got it up on their channel, just no MV) its a bit rough in places but honestly better than plenty of kpop songs, and this current song is pretty strong I think. https://mobile.twitter.com/idlecharts/status/1586524106031534083 Insane! Soyeon was asked in a variety show if she ever feels like a genius and her answer was “when I check Melon chart in the morning” Itzy concert was amazing. I was worried about the mood being down because of the Itaewon tragedy but they were incredible performers and having a ton of fun. Hopefully none of them or the staff working this tour were directly affected.

With 3/5 of those groups getting their paks after Melon started messing around with charts, is it easier to get or keep hold of paks now or something?

Ryujin might be the happiest performer I’ve ever seen too, just pure joy on her face the entire night. Their solo stages were a lot of fun too, especially Ryujins Boss Bitch song where she repeated “I’m a boss, I’m a bitch” a bunch 😅 Bottom Liner fucked around with this message at 06:15 on Nov 7, 2022 |

Yup, they’re not one of my top groups (but are my wife’s favorite) but it was still easily a top 3 show for any of the kpop concerts we’ve been to. Took a friend that knew nothing about kpop and he came out a fan, despite some severe reservations at the start. A lot of the new songs really grew on me after the concert too.

Well, at least for their female artists. For me, I get annoyed because I want their music to be a lot better than I think it is. They're great musicians and performers, as shown through their live shows being as good as they are, but most of their releases have felt like teddy just doesn't have some new idea/angel/concept to get something that stands out. He's good enough that they're not *bad*, but when all the inputs into the equation should be top notch you really should be getting a better end track.

No, even by YG standards, how little music Blackpink has this many years into their career is ridiculous. But it's making YG bank so why change. 2NE1 didn't have a ton of music compared to their contemporaries, sure, but they had two minis and two full albums within relatively close time to one another, and the time between was spent constantly promoting most of the songs on each as singles with MVs and music show runs.

Universe songs aren't really comebacks. It was exclusive to the lovely app for a week or two before being posted to YT. They are generally not great songs either lmao. It's like companies just give Universe whatever didn't make the cut for the artist(s). That MV is fire, though, and there is a choreo demo that points toward it initially being one of the options for their Queendom finale cb. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CkV409IsGvC/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y
