Got this bolter as an Emperor's gift. It's not a god roll, but I'm plenty happy with it.

S.J. posted:The critical hit portion of it is the only genuinely bad part - the rest is incredibly useful. I already one shot most flak armored enemies, and unarmored does, at least, catch scab ragers and helps the AoEs do damage with a lot of other stuff. Interesting, maybe my current Gaunlet is phenomenally bad and I just wasn’t paying attention, it struggles with flak and maniac on occasion. Will have to look in the morning.

Just got the "kill 120 enemies in 30 seconds" achievement by sitting at the ledge on Throneside bridge defense thats on the right side and spawn camping all the mobs climbing the ledge with my powersword swishing heavy powered attacks back and forth at their heads as they climbed up Highly recommend

I mean tbf this is mostly at Malice. And maybe I'm just lucky and getting more headshots than I'm thinking. Either way, the armor debuff is insanely useful.

I got an Atrax axe for my Zealot with absolutely crazy stats but rock bottom cleave. On the flipside, I also got Brutal Momentum on it, which is ignore hit mass on weak spot kills. As an axe, weak spot kills come stupidly easy, but it's certainly a strange interaction between the axe ostensibly having actual cleave vs the other combat axes, yet also having fuckall cleave stats, but also its blessing feeling like it basically gives you unlimited cleave. I can certainly see double kills with it and pushblocks seem to take out multiple dudes. It's a surprisingly powerful alternative to my Eviscerator for high diff runs.

I've been enjoying the game so far, though I'm not nearly as far in as you guys (highest level is a 12 Ogryn), but one thing that absolutely drives me insane are the UTTERLY USELESS cutscenes that happen at level intervals where you're called into some room so some scarred up fuckwit can tell you how useless you are while hinting at whatever mechanic you happened to unlock. Why? Why waste your time making, and my time watching, cutscenes that could have easily been just a comm voiceover while you're walking toward the mission map? Every time it happens it makes me feel like I'm being called to the principles office just so they can tell me they have their eye on me. Oh, and while I'm on the subject of cutscenes, the opening cutscene with Gryndel is absolutely badass...until Zola comes in and leads a cheer that has all the energy and cringe of a junior high school football team getting hyped before the big game. Should have just been "The Emperor Protects," cutoff, sizzle, back to squishing toxxies. Game still good, though.

I've got an 84-round Infantry Lasgun and a 15-round Boltgun, but no reason to use the revolver that feels really good to shoot and use The animation is cool and all, but completely out of place if the Boltgun can do it twice as good and nearly three times as much. Revolver can draw and shoot in a fraction of the time as the bolter. it's a much more responsive option for a zealot in melee to erase a sniper or bomber that just emerged before they do something bad. you can draw it, kill a special and switch back to melee in the opening created by 1 push.

Kaysette posted:What is the curio meta looking like for psyker? I've been using a mix of +toughness and +health as I'm settling in at 30 and trying to make the jump from malice to heresy. I'm personally running every trinket with block efficiency and I think it's incredibly powerful for a secondary trait, especially if you are running kinetic deflection with a force sword that can block bullets, you'll be able to facetank gunners and get any ally up in the thickest of crowds. For the first slot probably just take toughness or health, stamina won't do anything, maybe a wound if you need the crutch for heresy+.

I leveled up a Veteran recently and I agree that the Revolver is the best gun in the game. I just want one with a fat stack of +reload speed% on it Feels silly to be rocking a revolver on a Veteran but come on, extremely fast, extremely accurate, 1-shot kills to pop off all the specialists

Just did a high intensity with one literally unavoidable daemonhost and one practically unavoidable because it was in the middle of like 25+ scabs and we genuinely couldn't see it because we aggroed the scabs the moment we turned around the corner. Me and the other Ogryn in the party belted them with both our grenades and we both had the explosion feat and holy gently caress we melted those things. Then whichever of us got attacked just blocked+backdashed around while everyone else beat the poo poo out of, no problems.

My new strategy whenever someone aggros a Demonhost is to just proceed as if nothing is happening and make it to where they'll be rescuable right around the time they become rescuable They definitely just despawn after 2 kills but I am like 99% sure that if all 3 other players (1) never shoot it and (2) just walk away (break LoS maybe?), it despawns after one kill.

What's the most +Toughness Regen you can get at higher levels? I think the Zealot's ability starts toughness regeneration immediately and I'm curious how quickly you can get it to refill. I mean, it's academic really because you can just take the double-F ability and get all your toughness back immediately but I'm still curious.deep dish peat moss posted:My new strategy whenever someone aggros a Demonhost is to just proceed as if nothing is happening and make it to where they'll be rescuable right around the time they become rescuable I have yet to encounter a situation where we couldn't kill the host before the first kill but I do love the simplicity of this solution.

Thanks to whoever brought up the alternating light-heavy combo for the slab shield, it's very effective and let me switch to the bleed perks for what feels like solid mob clear while retaining superior knockdown spam compared to the shovel. I miss the grenade box turning into an MIRV but it's still worth it I feel.

Ciaphas posted:large friends, please teach me how to Ogryn Don't think of yourself as a tank. You have the most HP, but if your toughness breaks, you're going to have a very bad time getting stunlocked by shooters at difficulty 3 and up. And where tanks are generally the vanguard of a group, your strongest position is within the group so you can respond to threats against your specialists. You're more of a crowd-controlling swiss army knife than a pointman. You're the guy knocking people off the Psyker so he can pick out targets. You're the guy who has the best pickup of fallen comrades both because of your high stamina and the fact that damage doesn't make you flinch. You're the guy who stalls out ragers, maulers, crushers, and bulwarks and keeps them occupied so your damage boys can respond. Your bull-charge either lets you respond to emergencies or flatten a horde so they can be mopped up. And your ranged weapon is typically a problem-solver to answer things outside your core competency, e.g. armored enemies, distant specials, etc. I'm a Rumbler Enjoyer but Stubber and Gauntlet both seem fine. There are times when you have to be at the front to do your job, but in those situations, try to pull to a side and intercept hordes from that angle so you can keep lines of fire open for everyone else. From Malice onward, you're going to notice that gunners beat you up even worse than everyone else, which is another reason not to be a pointman. During protracted firefights, protect your pals, mark targets, and occasionally duck out and contribute with some ranged fire before ducking back into cover. In smaller confrontations with gunners, you can use the slab shield to advance on them, drawing aggro and getting close enough to make them switch to melee, and/or use your Bull Charge to quickly put yourself in their face. Don't bother with bleed builds, and don't bother with heavy attack on most weapons. You don't have anything on par with Bardin's shield-smash weave. But the maul in the shield+maul combo has tons of crowd control on light-attack. I'm not much of a knife-haver, so I'll let them chime in about that one.

Floppychop posted:Is there an answer to muties outside of "kill them before they get close"? Dodging them rarely works and you can't push them away. Really? Me and mine have the opposite experience. Don't bother dodging muties before they're like half a second away from grabbing you, because they will correct. Position yourself so you know who the mutie target is, and if it's you, think toreador and wait for the last moment to dodge. Dogs are a crapshoot. Most of the time if you melee or push them during or just before the leap you can just browbeat them, but then other times they'll go all non-euclidian and run through you before they leap at you from behind or some other Warp nonsense.

You don't even need to dodge mutants. If you stand next to a wall (so that they charge into the wall when they hit you), they deal zero damage, stand still for a second while your team shoots them, then throw you for zero damage.

Cease to Hope posted:Psyker Stuff That's pretty close to my experience as well and I agree that those youtuber build guides are 90% clickbait garbage as they desperately try to find more than 1-2 builds per character so they just tell people to take really suboptimal feats to fill a video. I also agree that 15% cooldown reduction for the teams ults on elite kill is hugely underrated and the warp charge generation on kill is both selfish and bad, on higher difficulties you can easily ult back to back as you get swarmed by elites and ults are exactly what people want to use in that situation, I'd disagree on taking T6 1 Quicken because like you said warp charges don't matter and you probably are running around with 0-1 unless you have been brain popping, 3 Kinetic Barrage is the only feat that actually upgrades brain burst in a meaningful way and gives you 10 seconds to deal with the bulwarks that are surrounding your team or a specialist that very much needs to die faster. Keep fishing for the deflector sword, I've been running with full block efficiency curio's and weapon and turn into a shield ogyn that doesn't block allied shots on demand, easy revives and gunfire blocker, I just can't run anything else and I even shelf better force swords because they didn't roll block efficiency in the perks.
