my only hangup with vegapunk is i really dont want him having a superior answer for everything lol, like if hes the best at climate control and the best at medicine and the best at engineering and can remake most devil fruits and knows all the mysteries and so on it eventually becomes a question of whats left for the crew specialists and the other world bigwigs. i dont think we'll get there though, at most i imagine his novel experience or invention in these areas will just be launching points for some crew upgrades

anyway though thats some weird what-if preemptive concern ive always had in the back of my mind as the name has been established, the way all seven of them have been handled so far has been perfect including the exposition dole because we're late enough that we need and want some of the biggest mysteries getting their veils pulled back both so the consequences of those reveals have time left to settle and have consequence and because you cant just dump 100 answers in 100 panels in the last three chapters or whatever

But he's not the answer for everything

there's no way in hell vegapunk comes out of this in one piece (no pun intended). he even started the arc in seven pieces! so there's a lot of acceptable middle ground between total defeat and total failure for the strawhats here.

I've never understood the "well <character> can't join the crew, what would their position be?" argument. Like, it doesn't matter, Luffy would make up a position for them if they were a good friend, what matters is bringing your nakama along on this adventure.

Though to be fair in that sense, Carrot/Yamato did have pretty defined roles as Lookout and Chronicler/Record Keeper respectively. And you have roles like Quartermaster, Deckhand or even Swabby that are non-combatant roles that almost anyone could fulfill. Roger had two swabbies after all so it's not impossible. So there's really enough room to justify a role for just about anyone who might join. For instance, I don't think many people anticipated that Jimbei would be a Helmsman until Wano when he officially joined. But he fits the part well enough now that we've seen him in that role.

I'm glad they're not just "beep-boop am robit kill straw hats". Android Arc was one of the best DBZ arcs for a reason. It ties in perfectly with Vegapunk's "everything is born into this world with hope", and I'm super pulling for them to bust the slave collars in their heads and be Overpowered Giant Cyborg Kids in full.

Luffy offered a spot on his crew to the guy stuck in a treasure chest who didn't have anything to offer the crew whatsoever, and offered Brook the position the instant they met and before he was revealed as a musician entirely cause Luffy saw "cool skeleton" and that was all he needed to know.

Egghead Arc is already a solid 8/10 but we can fit a perfect 10 if we get Seraphim Buggy whose super strong and a serious of wacky circumstances causes people to think it's the real thing and Buggy gets all the credit for whatever it does
