Pyrrha had last been to the ninth to paint a nursery. John talked about being concerned about maternity a lot in the past. Anastasia's lyctorhood failed because she was pregnant, and the additional soul hosed it all up.

It seems like maybe Pryrrah knew some stuff Gideon the First didn't, might be an important distinction later.

Ok, so I haven't posted on SA in forever but I've binged this thread in the past few days because this series is excellent and y'all are great. I appreciate the insights, the lols, and the memes. I have to say that I really appreciate any book(s) that gently caress with me the way these books do. They remind me a lot of The Book of the New Sun. They're fascinating, unreliable, clever, funny, and totally loving bonkers. Can't wait for more.

Book of the New Sun has been namedropped a few times in the Honestuck Made This World podcast which, given Muir's history with Homestuck, is a fun little overlap

I had never heard about Homestuck until I started reading this thread, so I have no idea wtf it even is. Google says it's a webcomic. Do I need to read this thing? Am I in for a hell of a ride?

Homestuck is very good but also gets bad and does not really have a satisfying conclusion. Still well worth reading imho, but if you find yourself hating it at some point no shame in bailing out. The music holds up.

I recommend people approach Homestuck the same way they approach Dune — understand that it's very influential on a bunch of works that followed it, and stop reading as soon as you finish an Act (or sub-Act) and find yourself thinking "yeah that was fine but I don't need any more of it". Music definitely still holds up though.

Put aside plenty of time for it too. That poo poo is *long* and I’m not surprised Hussie burned out.

Yeah I saw an interview where he described working on it as taking "every waking hour", and I don't think any human could keep that up. The first "half" of Homestuck is great (albeit still very long), and the second half feels like a 500,000-word epilogue. (And he also wrote a many-words epilogue to that, which I think I got through a tiny fraction of.) cptn_dr posted:Music definitely still holds up though.
