i always feel weird when people talk about music they loved back in the day or how they don't make GOOD music anymore or whatever, because the years i was in highschool (and the 2000's as a whole, especially the mid to later part) produced some of the worst music ever with very few exceptions

like i love a lot of stuff from up to and including 2000, love plenty of stuff from 2010 on, so i think 9/11 must have just ruined music for a solid decade and it happened to be when i was a teenager so i never get to have the experience of telling Kids These Days about how much better music was when i was a teen, cuz music is absolutely better now than it was then. thanks a lot, bin laden :argh:

in general i think theres some indie and punk stuff from that era still holds up pretty well, and i liked a lot of the garage rock revival bands at the time, even though a lot of them were terrible one hit wonders. but it was mostly a joke about nostalgia and thinking the music from when i was a kid was so great because it was the soundtrack to my memories of being a kid.

turns out a lot of punk bands i listened to as a teen wound up being outed as sex pests in the 2010s after i tuned out, though. who would have thought.

gonna be honest it seems to be a perpetual thing that a significant portion of popular musicians turn out to be sex pests or worse ever since the concept of touring musicians and teenage fans
