I finally got some time to dig into the new NewJeans singles and they’re both great. I also just get this feeling that everything else in KPOP is just instantly dated and this really is the new wave. Wild

I don't feel that everything is dated, but I think the groups that have been sort of lagging behind feel that way even more now.

Got a great seat for Dreamcatcher Atl, but can't figure out if it's just general admission for that section or what. Can't find any photos of that venue with seating, just House of Blues style open floor. Tried to help friends get Tickets for NYC and it was a bloodbath.

Nice to see them playing the same venues that Itzy did and also selling out instantly!

Got tickets for DC in Atlanta, that was super stressful! I'm glad I'll finally get to see them live, though. Really hoping they perform Deja Vu, it's absolutely my favorite song, and it even has fan chants.

Yeah, Ticketmaster's system is absolute garbage. I was 125 in the queue when it loaded at noon and I was playing whack a mole clicking every close up seat and they were vanishing real time, then half of them were Platinum resell at $500. I got the literal last one in that section that wasn't Platinum.

A friend that saw some other groups there recently did confirm they put out seats, so it's nice to know it won't be a standing room rush to the front.

on the new itzy tour diary they go out to eat with JYP and yeji brings up how competitive it is right now where if they have a really good song they chart well but if not then they drop hard. JYP doesnt really address what shes saying, at least how they edited it, and just compliments them saying that theyll win out because they can both dance and sing live but it was interesting that she brought it up. this song and cheshire dont really do anything for me and i'm interested to see what your itzys and aespas will do in a post-newjeans world. i think there are more aespa side-project songs than actual aespa songs now with the got the beat album

New Jeans (and other new groups') success don't seem to be hurting these groups outside of Korean charting, as they're all selling more and more as kpop just continues to grow. RV's Birthday just sold a million, which is a big deal. Itzy's Checkmate was a million seller and their new one will likely hit that too. When they were at the height of their popularity in SK during the first two years, they were selling 1/4 of that and didn't have much international recognition. Twice were the #1 streamed girl group in the US in 2022, despite having a down year in SK as well. It'll be interesting to see how the companies all navigate the changing scene, but for the big labels it seems to be a rising tide all ships scenario. NMIXX would not be nearly as successful if they were from a small company based on their songs' reception so far, but with JYP backing and promo they've been able to gain a strong following and already establish themselves as well.

loving love that Twice song! They said in an interview this song was inspired by their performance of Moonlight at the LA encore, which was indeed a special moment under the lunar eclipse and the whole stadium singing the song acapella with them. I still hate how JYP is mixing vocals these days but at least the distorted sound fits this song better with the 70s vibe.

Really liked both Japanese tracks, Boys Like You was pop perfection, Cheshire was really solid, and they had some of their best bsides. I know a lot of people hated Sneakers but it's just a fun track. It will be interesting to see where they go next because they're hitting the same spot Twice did when they started doing more mature sounds.

Boys Like You and Cheshire are good. Sneakers was the one Itzy track that finally got me to give them a listen. I love that song, lol. Didn't care much for the rest of the songs on Checkmate outside of Domino though, or their Japanese tracks either. I guess Voltage was alright.

This song is so drilled in my head right now. 3/4 of their songs are great, Log In is a weird outlier stylistically and a skip. Their director just confirmed another album dropping next month too.

It's an OST for a Jdrama OP

but if that ends up being the source of the Jline subunit rumor that would be hilarious. Not likely though, considering it was on the JYP financial projection reports and all.

Apparently Moonlight Sunrise is blowing up in Japan too.
