There are a few people on the roster people assumed wouldn't be going to LA, and Yuki is one of them. Her SKE48 duties are always priority, and they have shows during that time. So I just watched KAIRI/Mercedes. Pretty good match, the finish was OK, but I'm really not happy about Mercedes winning. I knew that she would eventually beat KAIRI and become the second champion but I don't like that she did it in her debut match after not wrestling for almost a year. It feels really obviously lovely and greedy, and I feel really bad for KAIRI because they spent all this time and effort creating this belt and giving it to her and then it turns out she was just a belt pillow for Mercedes. They could have made a long term feud out of this and made KAIRI look super strong before Mercedes finally beat her but nope. Give us the money right away. Really short sighted. And don't get me wrong. I don't hate Mercedes or anything. She's still really good and it's obvious that she's been training this whole time and hasn't lost a step but it just really bothers me that an outsider comes in after not wrestling for almost a year and immediately dethrones an inaugural champion who only got to hold the belt a few months and who only got 2 total defenses I guess the silver lining is that maybe KAIRI goes back to Stardom full time and rejoins QQ and I can see her wrestle more often

kairi is a part-timer and they almost certainly fully created the belt for mercedes so she can draw with it on njpw america shows. also kairi was clearly thrilled after the match lol

I think it would have been better if Mercedes could have been available for the initial tourney as that undercuts KAIRI less but I don't hate them putting the belt on her now, especially if she's not necessarily going to be around in the long term.
