It was almost assuredly bad information that lead to ukraine blasting it. There were reports at the time intelligence spotted people in uniform hanging out around the compound and they probably thought it was a barracks, woops it was a prison and you just merced your dudes

Putin rather he readying a 6 hour speech about nothing in particular (admittedly meeting with Xi is probably going to be the most important thing he is going to probably be doing with his time). It doesn't mean Putin is going but has gotten used to ruling in a high-handed and detached manner. It is part of the reason why he and his closest buddies decided to start the war without consulting the military. It isn't great but his power is built on the fact that everyone agrees the alternatives are far worse.

I'm not saying anyone is going to coup Putin right now. It's just that there is a military organization within Russia that's acting like they're not completely under control of the government and stirring poo poo. It's something that Putin should handle as a ultimate public authority. Or at least make sure it gets handled. I think that robbery/killing of Mangushev is supposed to have been done by some wagner guys too? At least I think that was implied.
