I think the Purple needs to pop more, maybe metallic paint or something? It gets lost at a distance in the grey

yeah I think you're right. it will be better represented in the V2 buster configuration because there will be more of it, but metallic could be a good idea! especially considering I'm replacing the gold parts with purple. thanks!

They had the crust to label this thing a High Grade.

This is really closer to .. was it "first grade" as opposed to High Grade. I just cracked mine open, and it's.. gonna need a lot of paint. The detail is there, thankfully.

This is one year newer than my older MG. I have the MG GP-01... And the plastic on this kit is ~better~ than that MG. And.. has better detail. And it's only a year newer.

This will be a fun model to paint, I think.

I should've only bought one! I couldn't resist the temptation to get both!

I did leave behind an RG Hi-Nu Gundam though.

So far it's easy enough to do on the couch while my wife plays Animal Crossing, even though I know I should probably do it in my actual work space. Gonna have to buy some 30 minute guys or something next

Gotta grab some accessory packs too and customize them as well! :shepspends:

The real meat and potatoes of this hobby is going on shopping sprees for tools, paints, and accessories.

I'm glad I'm feeling motivated to work again though. After like two years, I've finally started the painting and finishing work on my RX-78-4 and -5. I'm mostly finished with the shield for unit 5, since that was my test case piece. I'm not super thrilled because I decided to try out some old liquid mask fluid I had that was (somehow) still good. It works great as a mask, but its a pain in the rear end to work with and cut to shape without stretching it or scoring the undercoat. That, plus inexperience lead to me doing some hand-brushing touch ups. But so far it has cleared the incredibly low bar of 'better than stickers.' Waiting for the gloss coat to cure before doing panel lines on it. Once that's done, I'll move onto the rest of the kit.

edit: Picture tax

I decided to dive right in. I really would have loved to have started with Blade, but I don't have any sanding sticks/files yet and I'm weirdly more concerned about stress marks on that kit than I am Gundam kits.

This kit is already kind of crazy.

Those look pretty neat, and lol at the actual gachapon Gundams. Is it a 28mm scale or so? (Same as Warhammer?)

Like 5 or so centimeters I think, they are pretty beefy! They're seven bucks a pop so not super-cheap but cheap enough I am most likely going to pull every month or so to try and get a Qubeley.

Meanwhile in Strike-land:

I remember having trouble with mine but I don't remember the solution. It's one of those pieces that are supposed to stay in place just by being a little bit too big for the opening.
I may have shoved it in harder, I may have glued it. Not sure.

Cool, thanks! Will probably get some clear modelling putty or use some super glue or something to add some material to the edges to make it stick.

There's always Lightning Strike, heavily inspired by Gundam series.

The feet on the HG Nightingale are way too close together and makes it awkward to find a good position to put them into. I feel like the waist should have been a bit wider to give the feet some more room so that the inner "toes" weren't practically on top of each other.
