One thing I'm somewhat curious about is the Abigail Pent interactions in Harrow during the memory deep dive, about the time spent in the first house when they're sitting around in the library upstairs. In Gideon we don't know what Harrow or most of the other necromancers are up to on a daily basis - did she go and hang out with them in the library for a bit? Did Abigail actually do some spirit reading on her? Or was it a complete fabrication?

GtN/Htn spoilers The revenant spirit of Abigail Pent performed spirit reading on Harrow while in the Canaan House bubble. I don't believe this was an event that occurred during GtN that Harrow recreated in the bubble reality.

Was it implied that Abigail was aware of what was going on the whole time, being a spirit specialist, and was trying to guide Harrow to understanding?

I will never stop appreciating the way the Second House and the Eighth House are completely right about everything in the first book; they just aren't very effective (in the case of the Eighth, completely ineffective) because they're dicks about it.

I just finished reading Susanna Clarke's Piranesi and the Labyrinth in which most of that book takes place gives me major Canaan House vibes. A giant decaying temple slipping into the sea. Except this one extends infinitely in all directions. It's a weird little book, but it's short and a page-turner, I highly recommend it.

Sub Press edition of Nona pre-orders go live Thursday.

quote:

Open Preordering for Tamsyn Muir's Nona the Ninth begins Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 12:00 pm EST.

Links to the book's product page will go live at that time.

We’re pleased to present this epic space fantasy, the third entry in The Locked Tomb Trilogy, in an oversized edition, with a full-color wraparound dust jacket, full-color endpapers and interior illustrations by Edward Miller.

For Nona, we’ve upgraded the production aspects from previous entries in the series, including two-color printing throughout, as well as the binding of the lettered edition

I don't have any of the other Sub Press editions, and I'm not super in love with the art I've seen from them generally, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still seriously considering dropping $200 on one.

Hey thread, I read all three Locked Tomb books over the last month or two, and I would just like to say that I cannot loving believe that Tamsyn Muir spent an entire novel and then ninety percent of an entire second novel setting up a "Hi ___, I'm Dad" joke. The audacity!

Anyway books good, looking forward to Alecto.

A bit, yes. Even with all the jokes and memes in the series, I still hadn't anticipated that one of the big reveals would be structured specifically to let one particular joke land.

Homestuck seems to have been a great bit of media for everything adjacent to but not Homestuck.

Game by the author? Great.

Novels by a fanfic writer? Great

Homestuck itself? Idk lol
