Kirara publishes a broad range of stuff including heterosexual stories, stories where sexuality is just absent and various types & flavours of yuri; In recent years it's gradually being taken over by yuri artists because it turns out stories about girls' lives is a naturally fertile publishing space for that, and hamazi happens to be one of them (many actually got their start doing yuri doujins for older kirara properties, though hamazi's roots are in shoujo manga & the ero anthology scene) To be rather earnest for a moment, jokes casting doubt on Bocchi's sexuality make me uncomfortable because there is so much cultural push to deny lesbian stories either for homophobic reasons or else as "not good enough to count" because the girls don't share an on-screen kiss and just doing that same thing but like ironically is... Yeah. I have not seen the slightest indication of any sort of editorial pressure to include gay subtext or exclude men, some authors just aren't interested in telling stories where men are a significant presence and it bothers me that this seems difficult to accept

KRR's most popular properties all have Yuri subtext at minimum though. I'm sure there's big ones that don't have have it, but those are the minority and I'm not gonna go through the list atm to fish out the ones where straight pairings are the prominent ones (that aren't a character's patents) rather than the gay ones

It may be that Bocchi is in fact gay but until you get that confirmation in something that is not a gag you're setting yourself up for disappointment. But this isn't about Bocchi having a romantic arc, it's there to add texture to her character, like her passive interest in space that comes up every now and again. Girls can be gay without crushing on anyone in particular, and gee I wonder if the author might be in any way interested in teling a story about that when 70% of her non-Bocchi output is lesbian fetish porn. (Also the Eupho characters "coming out as straight" is a severe oversimplification/misapprehension of what's going on there but that's definitely not something I'm interested in relitigating here)

Kita is literally introduced saying she's "fallen head over heels" for Ryou and thinks she's the hottest person alive. She's unambiguously gay. Like, it's not a question in the slightest. With exhibit #1 of "Completely Out Lesbian Kita Ikuyo" and her constant chemistry with Bocchi in addition to Bocchi's own frequent fantasies it's honestly a huge stretch to deny it from like, an objective standpoint. What's the argument against? That Bocchi lied about having a boyfriend in the online persona that's 100% made up and not like her at all? Yeah, that holds any water, I'm sure.
