multiplayer would have been cool if they had mega giant ships

honestly the game was finally a bit of a dissapoint when 1.0 came out. imo they made a lot of bad changes during early access where the final product was... lacking. i think blackbird just needed to wrap it up and was more focused on the new homeworld instead so they kinda just poo poo a ribbon on it and called it 1.0

like, at least to me, as someone that bought it when it first hit early access many years ago, that the devs were really into it for the first 6 months and then got bored with the whole thing and was like "oh yeah we have that product, lets ship it" and was really rushed. also the devs seemed to change their mind about what they had planned something more like a snowrunner/powerwash simulator game where you get better and interesting tools to take apart ships faster/differently,, many freeform ways to do it, and attack bigger and weirder ships into something that was like... kinda barebones lite-puzzle game with very limited 1-3 ways to dismantle each specific type of ship and no real meaningful upgrades.

just finished mission 4 of Sniper Elite 3. This one was quite fun: you have to break into a desert prison fortress - the first part of the mission is on the open grounds, and can be done stealthily, but once you've cleared out one side of the map, you can start taking long-range shots and relocating to clear out the other side

then you enter the fortress itself, and this one I did with nothing but the silenced Welrod pistol and stealth kills. You find the prisoner you're trying to rescue, assassinate a German officer to get the keys to his cell, and break him out.

the final part of the mission has you perched atop the fortress ramparts, looking out into the open area you previously came in through, and you get to rain sniper hell on dozens of soldiers to give cover to the prisoner as he escapes. It's quite forgiving, not like That One Mission in Max Payne 2, and you get to take your sweet time lining up incredible long-range headshots

I've only unlocked three out of four rifles so far, but the Carcano is definitely the best one so far

i have a list of QOL mods a mile long for this game as awesome as it is

starting with a way to choose who you want to respond with when forced into conversation and longstrider being on some kind of AOE like Aid

These dream warrior battles are incredibly well designed, my god. Such incredible variety in enemies and attack patterns both is such a big standout in this game, especially for how much of the game is desolate and eerie. I've done I think 5 now and each one has been insanely fun and wildly different than the rest

edit - And some of them have really troubling sendoffs

The problem isn't the 5th edition rule set, the problem is that the game is constantly trying to gently caress the player.

It doesn't matter what the rule set the DM is using when he's trying to screw you over the players the whole time.

Is it doing it thru trickery and hidden info? Or is it like PF Kingmaker on release where the mechanical balance was expecting you to be a turbo munchkin powergamer?

To me it feels like the former, where the game pulls random gotchas on you.

None of the game parts are difficult on their own. But if you're just turbonerd powergaming your way through it then things would be easier because all those random gotchas wouldn't be as much of a problem.

kingmaker liked doing those too sometimes, it was ironically accurate to original vision of dnd where the dm's goal was to gently caress over the players

never forget the will o wisp ambush where your party just dies on frame 1 of the fight

I never had a Playstation as a kid so only got to play it myself when the emulators were good enough, whenever that was. Somehow I remember being really impressed by the FF8 visuals. Though the one game from that era that really stuck with me was Xenogears, for some reason.

That doesn't change who is conversing though, it just switches to the character who can run around while your main is locked in talking.

Interrupting the boss fight and then starting it up and re rolling initiative so the enemies go first again and break the turn order, is annoying though.
