I'm glad that even if it was a weird dream/inner mind place Falin got to eat some Faligon meat too. It would be a shame if she was the only one who didn't get to join in the feast! Here's hoping we get a little supplementary book of just random epilogue stories, I still wanna see everyone meeting Chilchuck's family! My favorite manga of all time bar none. I want more more more, i cant wait to watch the anime. Now that the main series is over i just want to recommend it to as many people as possible. Its a perfect 10. Amazing story, characters, art, design work, everything. ryoko kui is such a talent, man!!

Going to definitely give this series a re-read. I think the story did stumble a bit after Thistle is handled and the whole demon event started. But that perception aside, Dungeon Meshi has been a consistently quality series and I'm glad it stuck the landing. I wish Kui the best in the future, whatever she decides to do and I'm happy that the Dungeon Meshi crew all got happy endings.HouseofGlass posted:You're welcome (to everyone else too)! What a hell of a series. I'm glad it's done, because that means it actually stuck the landing. A manga with a beginning, a middle and an end, and no gross fanservice nonsense. A manga I can actually recommend to people. Fantastic.

Dungeon Meshi's certainly going to join the ranks of "near-perfect media" alongside FMA at the very least. I have zero complaints about a single thing about Dungeon Meshi, it was just so incredibly good start to finish.

So I have one final question. What was the Winged Lion thinking about at the end? Was he toying with the idea of denying Falin's resurrection but then he decided not to? That being asked, such an incredible series. It's either this one or Golden Kamuy for being my favorite.

I did go back and re-read it and have potentially another idea. The Winged Lion is asking Falin if she is hungry and she wants to eat more. WL's entire sentient existence was driven by a hunger for desires and when Laios consumed the desire it caused WL to say "Well that loving sucked. I'm glad I'll never be hungry again because it was a pain." He was wondering out loud if he should let her revive and be hungry again, consigning her to a "cruel fate". He decided not to because he is beyond mortal cares again, so he just waved her off to be resurrected. This kind of goes in line with the ending message, to eat is to be alive, Falin ate so she is alive but the Winged Lion does not eat so he is not alive (and beyond such concerns). That take could be me going way too in depth for it though.
