In a non-hellworld, the smart move would be to cooperate, get somethey they want to make things a bit shittier and then move on. What would happen here is their bipartisanship would be used to attack them in primaries and the party machine would turn against them. Since the only thing more cowardly than a democrat is a republican, there's no chance of them ever risking getting drummed out of congress by doing that.
