it occurs to me that most anime does not feature broadway style bursting into song to describe the emotional state of a moment. horus prince of the sun did but its an outlier and clearly intensely disney influenced. the closest i can think of are idol media like love live or symphogear with lots of diegetic performances but id love to see something with nondiegetic performances. anyways excited for blue giant in a few minutes

Movie this morning was last year's Crayon Shin-chan movie. It features ninjas. Unfortunately, Shin-chan himself is taken to the ninja village and is separated from the rest of the cast for a significant portion of the movie leaving him to hang out with the movie's original characters, which are all ninjas. The ninja jokes are numerous and quickly wear out their welcome, making the movie feel really half-baked. Heck, there's only a single joke about Shin-chan's mom having a fat butt and Shin-chan isn't even in the scene with it. Truly hosed up.
