i can't answer this without it sounding like a lot of complaining but gently caress it

waffe in itself is actually pretty good, atrum is a good ceo and we've got several good corp things going on

there's a few insufferable cunts but they know to keep their mouths shut or they'll be thrown out

but goon culture in the imperium is dead, it does not exist - there's a dozen or two dozen actual goons in the org including waffe and no one outside of them seems to understand or care why it's a problem and it's going to kill the org

you'll be subjected to karmafleet dipshits thinking their corp or anyone in it matters (read: in reality everyone matters exactly the same. thinking you're space important is dumb. everyone is replacable and that's good, actually)

the imperium is the weakest it has been since the end of beitnam and multiple parts of the org are very cliquey and nepotistic and isn't showing signs of improving

the fc bench is Not Good, most of them are decent people, but they lack skill (and are nullbrained) and are not goons, we've hemorrhaged a ton of talent

a lot of our doctrines are poo poo and Not Fun

it's a nullblock, which means if you struggle to make your own fun you'll suffer and not enjoy the game as much as other areas of space, it also means you'll be subjected to fleet doctrines that are meant to be flown by brokewallet troglodytes (ie press f1 and have no bling / actual individual efficacy)

communication is siloed into discords which is basically a Broken Stair Production Line, and all official comms are done on Jabber (Pidgin) and Mumble (this ties back into culture being non existent and goon culture being dead) (jabber does not facilitate communication except for the couple hundred of us that miss IRC)

also the org is still incapable of apologizing for its mistakes (which means there's also a lack of org accountability)

i'm sure i could come up with more but i don't want to put any more thought into this post

tl;dr the imperium is full of dumb pubbies and useless krabs

I have no personal experience but everyone keeps saying FW is good now and apparently kill counts in lowsec are way up as a result.

First goon ever to be self aware and not huff copium 12 hours a day. Probably the best explanation of why not to join goons, from a goon. Funny that. Btw if you want to join an actual goon group… GooseFleet is probably your only option, and luckily it’s a good one (if you can make your own fun.)

On another note, one time 2 years ago Faeltagen said on a locust fleet that “if you’re not in goonwaffe, you’re a pet.” So keep that in mind when you’re looking for a corp. if you want to be an elitist rear end in a top hat goonwaffe is definitely your best option.

You're gonna be able to FW as pirate factions soon (coming this month afaik) so that's fun. I didn't mesh well with FW myself but from what others have said they've enjoyed it and you seem to be able to start with very low SP and still have fun while training up for bigger ships.

That six hour long documentary was worth a watch. It's like watching ds9 dominion war episodes, and it's mostly through the eyes of goons anyway because of all the propaganda.

I tried to remember when I even played with goons, turns out was 2016 and briefly again in 2019. Been winning ever since.

Curse corps are probably not interested in letting you in just because you want a few blues, unless you want to PvP and PVE with them, like actually actually join them.

Look on curses zkill page for active corps; or check through people in local.
