Yep. Considering exchange rates, a bunch of VS Blus being region-locked (Road House for example) and the volume of utter trash, I honestly can't see how a subscription is justified at that price. Obviously enough people don't agree with me, but that's my 2c on the matter.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend the sub to anyone not into the weird deep cuts they put out. Zero appeal to most people. Side note one of my fav partner labels they have is Saturn's Core. Shot on video poo poo rules.

I love lots of VS releases but the sub just doesn’t make sense for me, there are a lot of releases I’m not interested in and some months I just buy Partner Label stuff. I’d personally spring for an AGFA subscription though!

I was gonna say the main reason I don't sub is because for at least half the time I've been following Vinegar Syndrome (I forget if it's been 2 years or 3), I've been more psyched about/gotten more partner label releases than main That's not necessarily because I don't vibe with or have a place in my heart for what the main's been putting out. It's just usually the partner label stuff is either more intriguing, or stuff I've already seen and liked/loved. This month alone had two of the latter (I Blame Society and The Runner)

Well I made out like a bandit (but so did my bank account) with the HMV Black Friday weekend sale - 20% off plus through a sneaky method an extra 20% off that discounted price with a refer a friend code - pro-tip you can recommend yourself if your email provider ignores periods in email addresses. So it has meant I went and bought a load of Criterion Collection releases for around £11 each, including Certain Women, which I've been desperate to watch since seeing Lily Gladstone in KotFM, and lots of Wes Anderson films as the packaging on those is usually pretty nice. I did miss out on Grand Budapest Hotel and the Scorsese Shorts release due to their website being shite, but I suppose it did save me some money.

Saw that Shout Factory has a Masaaki Yuasa film box set for preorder so I got that for a friend for Christmas. She loves Kaiba, one of the series he worked on, and I at least can attest to the quality of Night Is Short Walk On Girl which is a favorite of mine. It looks like a really great collection with some fantastic extras. I'm jealous and I'm the one buying it for her!
