deep dish peat moss posted:Oh whoops I thought the kraft singles were the processed American slices type They're (more or less) all dairy, just not all cheese. The lowest end made with vegetable oil is the stuff you get when you can't afford Kraft singles. It's related to how regardless of your feelings about Hershey's chocolate, when you can't spring for that you get the "chocolate flavored" stuff that replaces the cocoa butter with palm oil. There's also "evaporated filled milk" which is concentrated skim milk with cheap vegetable oil added to replace the expensive butterfat. Popular dollar store item since dairy price hikes took the real thing out of range.

All of this is to say that almost all fats and edible oils are interchangeable. It changes the flavor and nutritional profile of food, but it doesn't really change what it is. Like at the end of the day milk is just water and fat with some protein and sugar in it

An excuse to post one of my favorite cooking substitutions! quote:Eggs and blood show similar protein compositions, particularly with the albumin that gives both their coagulant properties. Based on these similarities, a substitution ratio of 65g of blood for one egg (approx. 58g), or 43g of blood for one egg white (approx. 33g) can be used in the kitchen.

When selling a fake cheese, maybe don't capitalize your product name like it's a chemical compound.

Yeah just call it fake cheese, or is that not allowed?

when you're in "legally considered edible food" territory the precise details maybe aren't going to matter so much. the best stuff is expensive poo poo like "keto bread" that's mostly sawdust

You submitted your last assignment one hour and 15 minutes before the deadline. I advised you to submit assignments at least an hour before the deadline, so this is a last minute submission and I'll be deducting points from you.

Had a prof once who mandated assignments be handed to her personally before the start of lecture. However she would only show up 5 minutes before the lecture hour started, so even if you were early, you wouldn't necessarily get to the front of the line to hand it to her before the hour struck and your assignment was past due and wouldn't be accepted. This was to teach us "discipline". Yeah halfway through that course the Dean came by to speak to us about some "disagreements" between the prof and the university and then we had a different prof for that class lmao

Every profession has at least some people with terminal copbrain who are compelled to exert what little authority they have to punish other people arbitrarily and as often as possible. There should really be a way to screen for that
