I did manage to see someone get the full-on "Thank you your services will no longer be needed please turn in your badge these guards will escort you out of the building." treatment. loving brain genius brought in his own personal WiFi hotspot and hooked it up to the government NIPR so he could check his daytrading stocks. It was a bunch of stupid all piled together. We all had admin roles so we got extra briefings and paperwork outlining how we should do exactly not that, and we were allowed to have our personal phones there anyway since it was out in the unsecured side with NIPR. Could have just used his personal cell data plan like everybody else in the building but welp. The network guys were making GBS threads bricks over their network alarms and busted out their signal sniffer to nail him. Since it was a security incident it went far enough up the chain on both the government and contract sides that the axe came down in hours. Probably lost his clearance too.

Also - Why the gently caress would you hook your hotsput to NIPR, just use the hotspot by itself. Stupid moron. Kesper North posted:DFIR guy here. Windows often leaves credentials (PINs, passwords, hashes, Kerberos tickets, other stuff) in running memory for days. Mimikatz is both the name of an exploit that allows a program to extract things from memory, and also the name of an exceptionally handy utility for finding and extracting those cached credentials. If, say an IT administrator remoted into your system to install a program or do maintenance in the last few days, their admin credentials are cached and can be extracted via Mimikatz. So the risk is that not only will the attacker be able to gain persistence on your system via your credentials, but they'll be able to move laterally to other machines at a higher level of privilege when they find admin credentials. With those admin credentials it's a pretty quick trip to get Global Admin, and then you own the organization. Tip your waiters, folks. Mimikatz should light up even Defender pretty quick, but I know some of the newer implementations are more designed to live off the land and are quieter system wise. I still use mimikatz in engagements and get away with it in TYOOL 2024, though....

Almost all medicine r&d is financed through university systems around the world, and when a drug prospect turns out to actually work, a company is spun out to sell off the patents ie. get bought, and what the big bastards actually do amounts to in essence commercialisation. Industrialisation, packaging, and most of all marketing.

someone in the comments pointed out how cool it is that "fiduciary responsibility" turned from "don't blow the entire budget on hookers and blow and act vaguely responsible" to "companies must maximize short-term shareholder profits at all costs". wasn't mitt romney the guy who put the family dog carrier on top of their car when travelling and got mad that the dog took a poo poo that slid down his windshield
