Question: if one previously had a bunch of PS4 saves that they would like to transfer to a PS5 in the future, does this work without PSN access? Or, in alternative, can you transfer from a non-PSN PS4 system via USB to another PS4 system with PSN, and then presto, they would show up on the PS5? Asking

hmm there seems to be no real way to increases your damage in NG+ for Lies of P and the regular mooks barely take any damage. Im already at soft cap for Technique and only getting +1 per level... weapon is maxed out. Am I missing something?

You can definitely back up and restore PS4 saves to PS4 via USB drive, so I would assume you can back those saves up to a USB drive on PS4 and then restore them on a PS5?

The PS5 hardware is fine, devs just need to scale their games to run at a smooth 60fps on that hardware.

If you haven't put a technique crank on your weapon, it provides a one-time scaling boost. Other than that, it's pretty normal to max out your primary stat in NG+. You can start dumping into your weapon's secondary scaling stats (returns on this will be less if you are using a crank) If you're using a custom assembled weapon, make sure you don't have a damage type mismatch because that will cut your damage by a lot (see if any of the types have a V symbol in inventory)

I bought a pro and had no regrets. I’ll do the same with ps5 if it means less picking between fidelity and 60fps. It’ll also be a huge bonus if it benefits psvr2 in any way.

It feels extremely unlikely that Sony ever releases a more powerful SKU of the PS5. Especially in light of last week with Sony admitting that hardware and software sales are down, and now they are looking at being more aggressive in the PC gaming space.

xgalaxy posted:Anyone deal with thumb joint pain? Main thing keeping me away from console gaming these days. There's a lot of hand rsi stuff that can happen. I had some various things over the years, can't hurt to ask a doc if it is ongoing. I've done physical therapy stuff where they teach you hand exercises, give you fancy playdough to play with etc. But the main thing they tell you is to stop doing the stuff that bothers you, especially overuse stuff. So for me if I'm surfing the net on a computer or tapping on my phone for say 7 hours in a day, they're like hey, try not doing that. And for gaming I set timers, take breaks, and when I am in on gaming I aim for less than 3 or 4 hours in a day tops. And I take weeks and even months off. Also try to cut back on the device use and keep an eye on my internet time, since it's all stuff that adds up. And keeping an eye on your ergonomics etc. Also, easier said than done, you're not supposed to use your thumbs on your phone. Or at least, be aware of it and try to cut back. Hold it with one hand and tap with the other. Slow but healthy.

I think a PS5 Pro would be worth it if it means they can add in hardware support for DLSS or something similar, that’s basically the only major feature that the current gen of consoles just barely missed out on compared to PC graphics cards. Plus if they do another Pro it’ll be a win for PSVR2-havers, the extra bump in performance from the PS4 Pro was great for PSVR1 games and probably the most tangible benefit of picking one up.

The time and money spent on pro versions of consoles would be better applied to actually slim models and price drops imho. I'm sure there's some stupid reason why this isn't economically reasonable but I miss the days of being able to get a slim model for a hundred less or whatever.

I assume it'll be like the FF16 demo where there's some remixed stuff of a later section of the game which lets you try stuff out mechanically while fudging story stuff, or gives you access to stuff you don't have at that point normally.

Yeah I assumed we smashed a bunch of content together that won't be like this in the actual game to show stuff off.

Minotaurus Rex posted:Anyone play that Foamstars or whatever it’s called Splatoon clone on PSplus? The one that’s a free game for Feb It was fun for 15 hours or so. The biggest negative is that one person quitting out of a match errors out the whole thing, and there's no penalty for doing it. Everyone gets a loss and no xp. Other than that glaring issue it's pretty good. Edit - Also the hard co-op mission is actually hard, and you have to be pretty well upgraded and luck into a team of upgraded players who know what they're doing to stand a chance. Do not play Tales of Zestiria. It's not funny-bad, it's not bad in an interesting or edifying way, it's just extremely tedious and painful to get through. It is legitimately not worth the bandwidth it would take to install it, much less your time. Miserable game.

I am probably not going to play the Junon section of the demo since the full game is so soon. Also I think I'm really swayed by the "TWO DISCS" marketing, I got FF16 on digital but I might get a physical copy of Rebirth lol. also wtf is the thread title

kind of think 'modes' shouldn't exist and devs should make one copy to rule them all. it's weird to give the choice to the gamer.

It hurts your development and the console gaming value proposition. Having only one target makes optimization easier and your resources are focused on it. There have been many games where one mode was flaky and needed fixing post-release but the other mode was fine the entire time, that's not a zero-consequence pure aesthetic choice for either the studio or the player

Otherwise it’s backwards compatibility mode at 1080p. However, it’s only a 10-12 hour game so don’t bend yourself out of shape if you can’t get the Pro.
