Saito Brothers had an emergency press conference this morning. Apparently Rei has dislocated his shoulder (I guess against Huxley & Thatcher?) & so will be out for a while. So far they are just saying through the Excite Series tour, so he could be back for the March Korakuen show on 9/3. In the meantime it sounds like Jun is stepping in for him in the Triple Crown title shot on 20/2. Saitos have also vacated the All Japan Tag Team Titles (no word on the G-INFINITY belts). Meanwhile Ryuki Honda has been tweeting that New Period should be in any match for the vacant titles & I agree with him. Hell, gimme New Period vs Kento & Yuma.

A pretty standard week in Japanese wrestling here, the highlight of the weekend is probably the New Japan show with a rematch of the Wrestle Kingdom main event for some reason & also Okada's last New Japan match buried in the undercard. Honestly, the hair vs hair match (sorry, pretentious or not but calling it cabellera contra cabellera just sounds cooler) with Tsuji & Uemura is the most interesting thing on the show, even if it'd be pure madness for Tsuji to lose his hair. NOAH starts their Tag League & either are running very short shows or just can't be arsed to put up full cards for a show that starts in under 36 hours, which would be unusual for them. NOAH are usually one of the easier ones to find cards for, without needing to dive through Twitter. DDT have a debut in their Korakuen main event as some bloke from a pop band I've never heard of (I'm sure someone here is a j-pop head, it's the internet after all, but I'm a grumpy old man whose last musical purchase was a 10th anniversary reissue of Deafheaven's Sunbather so it's not my scene), THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE. So that'll be interesting to see how he fairs. Sunday also features an All Japan Tag Title match, & inshallah New Period wins it. But as they are about to challenge for the KO-D Tag Titles on the next big DDT show that might not happen. Which is a bummer, not that Kento & Yuma winning is bad, they obviously rule too. For the rest of the week? I spent far too long trying to track down the lineup for that Toru Owashi anniversary show, with Gorgeous Matsuno's Ameblo eventually giving me most of it, plus using Cagematch to work out the "hilarious" names for that one match. And I'm sure it'll be a loving awful match. And I have no idea if it'll even air anywhere, don't think it's on the WU schedule. I'm an idiot. Talking of the Wrestle Universe schedule, they've actually put up the first REAL ZERO1 show already, from 16/2, a REAL ZERO1 vs Team NOAH themed show. The main event of Masato Tanaka & Takuya Sugawara vs Atsushi Kotoge & Go Shiozaki could be worth a watch. Oh yeah, & the other thing I spent too long trying to find was the full JTO card. And then I finally discovered by fluke that there's an English language JTO Twitter account & I didn't have to spend ages going from the lineup to the roster page & trying to match the photo to the
