So there's a bill in Congress with (it appears) bipartisan support that would force ByteDance (chinese-owned) to divest TikTok. It clearly wouldn't kill off TikTok, but would force it being sold off by that Chinese company. Standard stuff and fears about the CCP basically having control of it right now. This is what people are pissed off enough at congress to get off their asses and do something about in large numbers but ask for universal health care and suddenly half the nation vomits poo poo out of their brains about socialism and actively works against progress. China is an extremely destabilizing force in the Indopacific region that deserves serious and difficult diplomatic, military, and economic attention, but the amount of panic that legislators whip up around their ownership of stuff like TikTok is just a lazy way of scoring domestic political points.

The judge told everyone after trial that he wanted expedited briefing. Trump waited until day 25 of 30 to ask for a stay pending resolution of post-trial motions and day 27/28 to file said post-trial motions. Judge is not impressed, and basically said "tough poo poo post your bond" with this last order. It is highly unlikely he grants the other stay.
