Doltos posted:I feel like horror is strangely unhorny compared to all other media for some reason. You get the classic people having sex and getting stabbed by Jason but other than that it's like Sleepaway Camp 2, Return of the Living Dead, and Giallos/70s horrors. I guess X counts but that felt more like a plot device than anything. There's nudity in a ton of sleazy horror films but it's not sheer horniness. its because jason will kill you OP

One of my favorite threads (which is somehow ten+ years later still running, though less active now) is the Video Game Hoaxes & Urban Legends thread which started out as basically exactly that but slowly turned into a really fun little thread full of actually solid video game creepypastas and ARGs. The "campfire story" comparison is right, as long as the writer can make decent atmosphere it's fun to feel some chills using a modern form of storytelling.

The mainstreaming of porn killed horny in cinema in general, with most truly horny movies these days being smaller arthouse releases. It's a shame, because the pendulum has definitely swung too antiseptic these days. But I'm not upset that along with it, there's a lot less overt unnecessary sleazy exploitation on screen. If movies ever dip back into that well, I hope they come back more lusty than horny, and I hope that they can finally even out the sleaze across the gender spectrum.

Jedit posted:Yeah, Rocky Horror live shows involve audience participation and you need to know what you're getting into before you go - or at least, that you should never let anyone know you're a Rocky virgin. Rocky Horror came out of the UK LGBT community in that period between Bowie coming out as bi and AIDS ruining the party where being sexually divergent was almost mainstream, and they wanted to be in everyone's face after so long in the closet. As such the original stage show is very performative, extremely camp and designed to make inhibited people feel uncomfortable. I will tell you that nobody wanted you to strip for sexual reasons and you would have been absolutely safe - I've never heard of a Rocky live show where someone took liberties with the Brads and Janets - but in your shoes I would have done the same thing. yeah i feel like the blame was on this particular production/the person inviting me for no warnings or anything, I had NO idea what was happening or how the shows worked so I was def freaked out bc i just expected like a normal show lol what was really funny was that there were more people on stage than there were in the audience so when I left (and the person i came with left with me) there was a full cast performing for like 4 people Kvlt! fucked around with this message at 17:32 on Apr 7, 2024 |

It’s hit or miss. It’s a fun time usually and I loved taking new people but it’s a weird experience overall but in a way that I really like lol I’ve met Tommy a few times and he’s loving weird and either really nice or not lol. I’ve always been nice to him tho. Sincerely. He did a music video that was decent for Tommy so I told him i liked it. It just depends on the crowd. There’s running jokes about siding with Johnny and hating Lisa in a over the top way because the movie is so sexist and awful but a lot of idiots take it way too far and it stops being jokes but actual sexism I met Greg a few weeks ago at a screening and it was pretty good! But I was quite drunk though lol.

Greg is a really nice dude. I saw him at a few screenings in 2016-17 and he remembered me, but the other week I was buzzed enough and was like “hey remember me!?” And he didn’t lmao but was really nice about it. But I got to chat about his alien film though. Very excited. Great premise. We’ll see what happens. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15755288/

And I got to tell Greg about the time I watched Best F(r)iends while high for the first time and how there was a scene with a clown in a morgue who comes back to life and it made me completely lose it, and he cracked up and said that during the scene the clown was choking Tommy for real and it was so funny they just kept shooting

The first time I saw The Room was at a midnight screening, and I showed up at a decent time but I still had to sit in the very last row with my back against the wall. The crowd was super hyped and it was a blast. I'd love to see it with Greg or Tommy hosting sometime.

We dont eat in the prep room (where we embalm) but we do often have snacks and coffee in the room where we dress and casket the deceased because its a big room and on long days sometimes we dont have time to eat/take a break so we gotta shove something down while we do intake paperwork I imagine coroners prob have similar situations, when we go to the medical examiner/coroners office for pickups ive def seen em snacking (tho again not in the actual rooms where autopsies are conducted)

Yeah, this was my main complaint about it. They're often just so unnecessary, tipping over into something vaguely Iron Man 2 esque at one point. The story mostly works as its own thing, and I wonder if it could have gone even further if it were able to be freed from the IP mines.
