5. Dragon's Dogma 2 Finished up my first playthrough with the true ending. What a loving awesome game. Excellent combat, fun character mechanics, tons of weird and cool ludonarrative poo poo... basically the perfect action RPG package. I'm certain I missed a few questlines and I want to max out all vocations, so I'm definitely going to be going back for NG+ after a break.

another crab's treasure crab sekiro is a good game, there are definitely points that couldve used more polish but theres great enemy and boss variety, and the combat feels great. actually wish there was some more platforming and use of the shell roll, because when you gain some speed you shoot forward like a Goron in MM and they couldve done a lot more w/ this, but its just a way to get around larger areas quickly. solid B+, if theres some kind of major content update or dlc I'll check it out ----------------

Gradius III is awesome but I always died one million times once it got to the fast stage, because I either powered up my speed too much or too little

i grab 2 speeds from the beginning and keep that for the rest of the game, but on some checkpoint recoveries i'll only do 1 to start cuz i need the weapons asap

Queen's Wish 2 - The Tormentor Throwback CRPG by Spiderweb Software. You're the prince of the big dick kingdom and your mom sends you to a vassal state to address grievances and prevent a full scale rebellion. They have been trying to get more creative with the encounter design, and there were some really clever ones in this game, but some dungeons were absolute aids. I think he nailed the reputation system in this game- in some of his other ones a single number gets tracked that represents how much you like slavery or whatever. In this case, you got tracked on how much the vassals like you, how much the queen likes you, and how merciless you were. In the end, all the vassals liked me and the rebellion was very small, but everyone at court thought I was a soft idiot so nothing I promised the vassals actually got done.

wario ware: twisted really phenomenal game. i can see why people say it’s the best one. i wish i’d had this game when i was a kid, i’d have played it until the wheels fell off. there’s a ton more to do post credits, i’m going to keep playing it for a while.

Katana Zero very short so it doesnt get old, didnt get any of the secrets which, by skimming a guide after beating it, seem to have a couple hidden behind some specific dialogue choices, in a game where dialogue trees didnt seem to make much of a difference in general. A little discouraging but i might get them later. very hotline miami in gameplay and story delivery, mixing a haze of drugs, war and amnesia, but its not as intentionally vague as hm1, choosing to explain more than it leaves open to interpretation. It's generic and predictable in the broad strokes (SUPER SOLDIER SERUM PROGRAM. YOU WERE ACTUALLY THE BAD GUY...!! but a little girl might prove the thing to give u back ur humanity...) but in the specifics it manages to carve out a bit of its own style (the way the chronos drug supposedly works is really cool, and contextualizing the gameplay as your dude's visions of the future and then the replay actually being what was recorded in tapes, and what factually ends up happening was super cool). weird that this was released this way given how it ends kind of just as when things are heating up, and apparently theyve been working on a free update full of content and likely the rest of the story. I'd say it was pretty good

oh and the sprites were pretty nice but i think saying that as a sticking point is kind of meaningless these days because basically every indie game these days has good spritework

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master -- Zeed is back with a bunch of auto-scollers, elevators and moving platform rides. All 3 Genesis Shinobi games are good. RoS definitely has the best music and aesthetic, SD has the most intense combat and III has expanded gameplay, cool setpieces and more substantial bosses.
