US law holds payment processors accountable for involvement in transactions related to this as well as anything sex trafficking adjacent, whether intentional or not. Payment processors typically pass this responsibility onto their clients. Rather than taking steps to exercise proper due diligence and police this issue, OnlyFans is pretty much opting to downsize their business and blanket ban sexual content. There are also issues with people who produce exhibitionist or other legally questionable types of content, but these aren't as heavily policed by regulators so I doubt it's the primary motivation here.

And there was another case in Australia just a few years ago where some porn actress' films got banned because she 'looked too child-like', because she had small tits. And now imagine knowing all that and going 'yes i want to provide financial services to your site where you have no mechanism in place to ensure RedHeadRedButtJenny's spanking porn is not shown to anyone in the UK' and yeah that aint even getting into legally dubious stuff like exhibitionist porn, etc
