I'd never stop exclaiming over them! Or cockatoos, I get sulphur-crested cockatoos hanging around just outside my door occasionally screaming. Though I like them anyway. I also have the same feeling about raccoons.

I think the thing with parrots in particular is that, like humans, they're used to complex vocal communication. There's a big language barrier, obviously, but they'll remember and use sounds that get a reaction they want. (again, like toddlers)

It's the same issue with say, dogs and chickens; unless you get VERY well trained animals (and of course it's way easier to train dogs than cats) then sooner or later the predator is going to help itself to the easy prey. You don't have any reliable way to make the cats not see a snack, and as well documented, cats kill for fun. It's like getting cats and mice or rats. Some pets just aren't safely compatible.

Chaosfeather posted:Birds definitely have a broader light-field of vision, but also don't discount their ability to smell. I'm not sure about our individual parrots but I know a few birds have a pretty keen sense. Between your changing color and other liver symptoms, I'm sure you gave off a sicky look and odor and Sera was trying desperately to tell you about it. Probably also doesn't help that humans are much, much larger than they are, and any changes are probably very noticeable to them. Contrast to the unfortunate difficulty we have caring for much smaller creatures.
