So the cabin got built. It's covered in housewrap right now but eventually I'll put siding on it. But it was really just a prototype for the end plan. The idea is to build two larger cabins connected by a long deck. So a couple weeks ago, I got started.

it's for the DECK ok. the plot called for something around 12x60, and being a nerd i went with 12x64 and I think it's gonna be the right size. So here's all the loving PT lumber and here's a longer view of it

Got the blocks all laid out close to straight and level. They're every 4 feet. Ish. Got the beams on em. Reasonably straight, all considered. there's a 2' overhang on each edge, which gives the deck a nice floating look but i am worried that it will eventually sag at the ends. If that happens I guess I can just jam some pier blocks under there. it gets hot as gently caress in the sun, but fortunately my friends the trees help me out there. It's only bad between 1 and 3. done, except for the back part that I'm leaving off until I saw the deck boards straight so it can all be flush and nice.

Got a shitload of redwood 2x6 delivered. about 1/3rd of it is nice and dry and the other 2/3rds are soaking wet. nailed a board to the side and butted the others up against it the picture doesnt show it well but it was SO PRETTY in the sun, shiny and caught the sun like an opal this is the loving bullshit wet wood that I stickered. It'll be about 3 weeks drying before I get out there again, hope its dry enough. this is as much as I've gotten done this far. see what I mean about how it looks nice & floaty? farther away view I bought $140 in stainless square drive screws. Square drive screws are so great. You don't have to push down with brute strength to keep them from camming out. I drove every single one of these 2 1/2" screws with a hand brace and it was easy and smooth and silent and it was wonderful and I took the time to indulge my OCD and every square on every square drive screw faces the same way.

Good lord what are you, some kinda weirdo supernerd? <yospos.txt> Oh, well carry on then. That's a beautiful deck, though it's missing the usual crushed beer can flooring that comes with most of the projects my dad and his buddies made.

Rotor our new property allows us to build a deck so you have inspired me, i'm going to build a deck to put next to Hausbus though i'm going to be using Torx bits, as they are six-sided and require a max of 30 degrees adjustment away from their proper torque point to align, whereas square drive can be up to 45 degrees off
