I'd like to believe that someone at Kyoani thought that anime could use a positive portrayal of a budding queer relationship without it being the entire focus of the story, i really really would.  But, i'm not holding my breath. It's not like i even have any problem with Shuuichi (even if he's pretty boring), or no romantic relationships developing whatsoever; but man episode 8 was very well done and there's almost no way for me to interpret it other than in a romantic light. c'mon kyoani, push the envelope a little

This show is still really good, i love the lowkey but important characterisation and character growth. It reminds me a lot of Hyouka in that way and makes me wonder if kyoani seeks out things to adapt that are like that, or if it is their spin on those stories that achieves it. I also hope the girl who plays the baby seal passed the audition.

Even though i'm still annoyed (with myself) for thinking that a mainstream kyoani anime would have a straightforward and confirmed gay couple in one of their shows it turns out that Sound! Euphonium is still a pretty great little bit of storytelling. All the characters are interesting and i like watching them interact with each other, even the ones that are jerks. anyway here's some gifs i found.

As always i'm pretty inarticulate about explaining why i like things, so i'm just gonna go with: show owned. It's probaly going to be right up there with Chihayafuru, Haibane Renmei, Madoka and some of my other all time favorites that i can't stop thinking about. Give me another season to see more band drama, to see more amazing production values, to see two girls falling for each other. Gimme a bluray too.

People who are depicted as falling in love should be allowed to be in love imo. If you write and direct a show that shows Kumiko and Reina falling in love it would be lame as hell to swerve to something else.
