I need to install a deadbolt on a door in my home but it measures only 1 1/4 inches thick while it seems that every deadbolt requires that the door be at least 1 3/8 inches thick. Will that missing eighth of an inch screw me over if I try to install a standard deadbolt? Installing a rimlock is out of the question since I would have to cut a notch in the moulding, and a latch and padlock is a non-starter for aesthetic reasons. Is there a way I can make a standard deadbolt work on a 1 1/4 inch thick door, keeping in mind that I'm not looking for a high-security solution, just trying to stop people from wandering in (I don't care if it can be kicked in). Edit: Nevermind, I'm just going to bite the bullet and chisel out the moulding. 3 Tablets Daily fucked around with this message at 01:32 on Oct 21, 2019 |
