This guy is so pumped to work on a customer's Isuzu Rodeo.

I guess I'm watching a real life shade tree mechanic in action?

What I do appreciate is that he gives off a very enthusiastic and excited vibe. And therefore it seems really low-stress to do this work. I am a car repair novice and come February when I have to do some timing belt/water pump work on a similar engine I will not be so nervous.

Please post awesome car repair videos that are either good or terrible (the one I posted was kind of both...since he seemed very cavalier about everything but someone is paying him????).

I think this guy also invented the concept of a party line. It's the line of parts that forms on his lawn as he disassembles the engine :aaaaa:

RobertDIY mostly does old Volvos like mine, so I end up checking his videos whenever I need to do anything I have not done before. He's also honest about parts that can be difficult unlike many DIY videos, and often offer solutions.

The Car Wizard is pretty good, if not particularly enthusiastic. I guess he can come off as condescending, but I think he's alright, and I think all the tips he gives are valid(superglue on washers maybe excepted). I often enjoy videos by guys affiliate to bigger youtube channels, as they will more often have their AV equipment sorted, and you don't have to struggle to understand someone mumbling downwind into a phone. The Skid Factory, Bennys Custom Works and The Car Wizard are all examples of that.

Eric O's diagnostic skills are seriously outstanding. He gets a lot of work from other shops to diagnose things they can't. He also has a really pleasant demeanor, and his wife (who makes regular cameos) is lovely too.

I open the door for formal training videos. Here is one I found for old Isuzu diesels, made back in the '80s (?). The narrator is putting off a strong gameshow host vibe.

I guess these were in Chevettes and LUVs. And they are reasonably similar to the 4FG1 2.4 diesel I'm trying to dig up info on.

This is me almost every day with offroad race vehicles. Race teams or other race shops can't figure poo poo out or they gently caress it up and it comes to my place of employment to get fixed. I don't let a car leave the shop EVER with an "I don't know."
I've had a few comebacks over the years (intermittent problems are fun), but I'll eventually figure it out.
