Nothing terribly spoilery, more speculation based on her later behaviours, but it seems that Yor is starting to feel conflicted about her job, seems to want to get out, and as a result seems to assume the very best in others.

Is Anya a Chimera? I notice her doll has those same horn things she’s always wearing.

In the genetic sense maybe, given her background. Good catch.

The thief incident was definitely in the manga, though maybe as a side/extra chapter?

I think a lot of the test rehearsal was new, but just felt like such a natural extension of the main plot.

Spy x Family is going to be 26 episodes long apparently, and while I initially thought things would go along at a slower pace more like 1 episode to 1 chapter, ending on the first big "arc" in the manga, we're already at chapter 12 in the manga at episode 8; and that arc starts in chapter 18 or 19 (can't recall off hand). Which means after the initial longer chapters etc. it's settling into a 2 chapters per episode pace. So we'll probably see that arc over the middle of the season. As such, for the guy asking if there's ever any content covering Yor's assassination work then the season finale will probably be the arc that centers around her job; which takes place around the chapter 43 to 50ish mark, so would make sense as the end point of a 26 episode show generally doing 2 chapters an episode.

Personally, and given the popularity of the series, I hope they pull a Demon Slayer and turn That Arc into a surprise movie after S1. I think there are enough extra chapters, and the series has done a superb job so far with anime-only extras, that they could pull it off in a pinch if they needed to.

Dunno that this really deserves spoiler tags but you will be relieved to know that at this point you have seen the vast majority of Yuri's appearances in the manga so far.

Yeah I miss the 60s spy-movie vibe of the first OP but this is legit a good track and nice imagery. Think it would have worked better as an ED though.

It has to be intentional, the manga artist is absolutely obsessed with getting the hair just right on all of the characters and a lot of the collected volumes have extras in the back where they present just dozens and dozens of sketches of rejected hairstyles for various characters.

The author's previous stuff has apparently been pretty dark so I love that the fundamental conceit of this series is that many people are fundamentally decent, even if that gets sublimated or twisted by wealth, political privilege, or other circumstances, and yet a chain of events sparked by some of the dirtiest elements of society (spycraft, assassination, unethical research) is bringing out the best in them. I really, really hope they can pull off a good ending.

Finally caught the last episode. I never really noticed the scars in the manga, but also the manga seemed to make his mood swings a bit more obvious. I think we can't rule out the possibility that he's being (at least partially) mind controlled himself. It would explain the mood shifts and the extreme security around him, even distancing him from his own family (Loid's own doubts in this episode about being able to perfectly impersonate people would seem like an important context clue in that regard). The mood shifts and noncommittal answers make a lot more sense if you assume that someone else is piloting behind his eyes.

You may not be able to fully understand other people, but some factions may think that controlling them is loads easier.

I'm honestly not sure if that's hair or a part of his hat. I thought it was hair before but looking at it it seems to be attached to the hat and it doesn't look like hair.

In the manga I couldn't tell whether it was a mask or his real face and... y'know what, I'm still not sure.

I'm just going to assume he's some sort of magical scarecrow come to life.

Anya also bailed them both out during the Date Night episode. It certainly seems like it's a thing this season.

I loved that it's not just balls-to-the-wall murder, it's also some crucial personal development for both Yor and Loid. The coda at the end where Loid catches himself starting to think of themselves as a real family was extremely :3:

Last episode had the bit I was most looking forward to, where the action was intercutting between the mayhem, the fireworks, and those two doofus coworkers at the casino, and the direction really didn't disappoint.

Lying is so ingrained into what Loid has to do for a living that he is skilled enough to lie even to himself. He's actually convinced himself he doesn't want to kiss his wife, the poor dope.

It would be loving awesome if the last arc was the combo of spy plus assassin plus psychic against BOTH countries as Strix collapses and the now-real family was the fulchrum of the real solution.

Yeah. Neither Yor nor Loid have really had their loyalties tested yet. Loid hasn't been asked to do any of the really unethical stuff spies may be asked to do, and Garden always justifies its assassination targets as being "criminals or disturbers of the peace". Even the insurgents in Ostania are usually depicted as ridiculous and wrongheaded; like that one guy Yuri arrested for printing the anti-Ostanian broadsheet where he was just making up stuff, despite Ostania being a place where there is a literal Stasi everyone lives in fear of being dragged off by, and a literal entire Mengele program.

It's a great series but it pulls its punches a little too much for the sake of the gag, and to keep the series ongoing as long as is plausible. So I don't expect all this to get put to any serious test until the series climax, but if it doesn't manage it even then, what are we even doing here.

Loid can effortlessly solicit, synthesize, and catalog massive reams of new data and play out dozens of scenarios as to how it could fit into the wider picture and his brain just stalled the gently caress out trying to make sense of that
