this is a thread for sharing strange facts from fiction. gonna start us off with one from animorphs, the headliners of every scholastic book fair circa 1998 the titular science fact refers to a minor character named Joe Bob Fenestre, the multi-millionaire CEO of "Web Access Online", who has a yeerk (brain slug) in his head. his yeerk doesn't want to return to yeerk society because it's a fascist empire and he prefers being a very rich human. so instead he hangs out in AOL chatrooms all day and uses his lowtax-like admin access to find other people who've been taken over by yeerks so he can saw their skull open and eat their yeerk for its alien nutrients. at the end of the story he's featured in, the animorphs leave him to his cannibalism because it's more useful to the war effort than killing him would be. Animorphs is full of plenty of references to all kinds of dumb 90s bullshit. and also, Lord of the Rings. which I guess isn't surprising from someone who writes books and also marshalled a bunch of ghost writers, but it's more than you'd except from YA Pubescent Alien Guerilla Warfare fun fact: the name of the band NIN is an acronym. it stands for Nice Is Neat
