I think that the exhaust improvements=huge gains stuff is a hold over from the 60s and 70s when manufacturers were cutting crazy corners to meet emission and noise regulations.

Thanks Mr Chips, these are always fun! I found it harder to work out answers that would be wolf but skirt really close to your malicious (and fun) grouping. Altho 15 was answered seriously, power does not make a car sporty, it's all about the chassis.
