i remember a classmate and i going to our cs intro professor asking if there was a base that people thought was "best". he said he thought he remembered reading ternary might be nicer than binary, because you could have a true, false, and like a "maybe" or something. then he put on a jazz record and regaled us with embarrassing stories about his daughter, who was a year ahead of us. she worked the student it helpdesk and reportedly cut her teeth as a babby on an ancient multi-monitor mac, spending much time trying to catch the mouse cursor when it jumped from one monitor to the other
