It's a bit stronger in taste, with more sourness. Flavor itself is not a huge difference, but the smell is much stronger.

Does alliteration where the words start with different letters have a special name? Like 'crazy quack' or 'silly cephalopod?'

ugh i looked this up and it's way too complicated, just assume it's slang

but if i had to guess, telephone came way before television so phone was already a thing and calling it a tellie would be stupid

that's my official guess

It's generally more rich and creamier because it's strained to remove the whey making it much more thick. If you're in Northern Europe it's similar to Skyr but with a more intense sour yogurt flavor. Although honestly some brands (Fage specifically) are basically indistinguishable from skyr so YMMV.

They aren't short for anything. They're actual words. 'Pro' is literally 'for' and 'con' is literally 'against'.

Small pool of willing talent + very niche market = Limited potential

Why are Americans so relentlessly upbeat and positive to the point where saying anything negative is defeatist (unless they're an in-group/out-group joke attached)?

It's all we've got.

Edit: the American attitude of optimism is probably deeply rooted in the idea that there's no such as thing as poor people, just currently down on their luck millionaires.

Con is the equivalent of 'with' in this context since it's from a different language (Spanish).

The telegraph predated the telephone.
So phone is the logical slang to call it to differentiate it while the two were existing side by side.

And UK slang always has a way of shortening words to their first syllables only, esp for long words. Electric has the slang word 'lecky' for example.
I blame Yorkshire.

"U" was considered short for "UnAmerican" so they cut a lot of them out. I think it was Zachary Taylor who took the "i" out of Alumin(i)um

In the of Aluminium (and only in this case damnit!) The American way is right. For some reason in the UK we decided it should end in 'ium' like all the others. Only... Wtf? It comes from some word 'Alumin' or something, so, alumin-um follows, but then we added a pointless i to make it fit. But it doesn't even fit. Dumb.

The same guy who named it aluminum had already named other elements that he ended with ium but knew it wasnt right. the brit that first started saying aluminium should be whacked upside the head with a platinium bat

they work the same way everything else works
except in everything else the electrons are spinning around in random directions and overall cancel each other out except on a small scale which is why you cant simply pass your hand through solid material even though its almost empty space
in magnets the electrons are spinning in the same direction and in that way they reinforce each other and extend their overall reach to create a field

does anyone actually "understand" how magnets and electricity work

like I know what the science books will say and I could write out an answer good enough for a high school physics class

but it doesn't really make sense to me as a concept

do you feel like you "get" electrons or is it just me

feynman accidentally gave the only sane explanation of how magnets work that ive ever seen
he was in the middle of trying to explain why you cant simply explain how magnets work in layman terms without hard science because you constantly have to cheat using physical metaphors that themselves work on the same principles youre trying to explain with magnets
a perfect explanation of magnets just slipped out in the middle of the point he was trying to make about the need to study to fundamentally understand higher concepts in physics. i credit him for being just that good
