I really wish Lowtax could have told us that himself instead of tweeting about it with another user copy/pasting his announcement from Patreon to put here. He is right about YouTube's pitiful ad revenue payouts, though. They've switched their formula so many times that it's hard for the average user to keep up (if they're even aware of the changes), and as it stands, it only benefits accounts for big companies and TV shows. He doesn't have much of an audience from the LP forum anymore for some mysterious reason and pretty much abandoned this thread after the first few updates, so it's not really that surprising. Patreon makes sense, but subscriber-only videos is pretty bizarre. Does that mean he's only making videos for ~20 or so people?

Hell, Lowtax doesn't even have to post it here. He could have stuck it as an announcement. As the GBS thread is showing, though, he seems to be getting a clue- donors get early access but they get uploaded to YouTube after a few days.

I can understand having premium content for people who pay a few bucks a month while keeping most content free, or allowing people who pay to get early access to videos, or to allow certain tiers of donors to choose what they play next. But to lock out everyone who doesn't pay from seeing anything really restricts the audience you're going to get. Don't I know it. Any website that pulls this kind of crap, Not to mention is unapologetic about it, Gets to me like nobody's business. Also, let's not forget the attitude of the moderators, Never letting people get away with shared accounts. Really, this practice needs a good kick in the rear end. Otherwise, it just leads to elitism between the haves and have Nots. Putting it simply, people need to eat, but that shouldn't keep Anyone from getting their free entertainment.
