You can get away with not doing much in your twenties and thirties but HOLY gently caress will you pay for it later. When I finally started going to a dentist the first thing they did was a deep planing and scaling of each quadrant one at a time. That took 6 months and they are totally nightmarish. Then crowns and root canals, I got dry socket once, that is a deep sharp ache that pain meds didn't touch for a week. I ended up losing one tooth on the upper right, $3500 cash out of my pocket to get a bridge so I didnt look like a crack whore. [It sounds gross but it's a fake tooth with crowns on each side--looks totally real.] Goddamn right I floss every day now.
