The part of the mangosteen that is interesting is the pericarp, or rind, or shell. This is inedible, but it can be freeze dried and ground into a powder. It contains antioxidant molecules that are unique to the mangosteen fruit called mangostins. Look for mangosteen powder with freeze dried pericarp added to it, or if you can find it, just freeze dried mangosteen pericarp powder. The fruit inside is mostly water, sugar, and cellulose, and not much else.
