Turkish is fairly easy language to learn for English speakers, the grammar is regular and straight forward due to language reforms and there are a fair amount of common loan words. Istanbul is rough shape even compared to the 2000s, even the new metro stations they built arent being kept up and it is clear Erdoğan and his buddies have done some impressive looting. As corrupt as Russia supposedly is, at least it looks a lot better than it did 20 years ago, not even just Moscow either. Around 2008 or so everything was looking relatively hopeful, and it dramatically moved in the opposite direction. A lot of the Atatürk thing is both nationalism, but specifically the secular/religious divide in Turkey that never truly got fixed. Ardennes has issued a correction as of 09:21 on Mar 26, 2024 |
