I used to do appliance installation and removal and we had to remove a huge old stove like this in bad condition and we dropped it and it got knocked around in the truck and we had just assumed it was garbo because it was old and not in the best shape and my boss was so loving mad as us because he was planning on fixing and reselling it

The main advantages of gas are very chef-y. You can use a wok (and other novel cooking surfaces like salt stone or whatever), you can char things over flame, and you can more easily feather heat to specific parts of a pan/whatever. While these are things that are reasonable for people to want to do, for a vast majority of people they simply don't matter, and for another vast portion of the remaining they're only going to offer the smallest edges of flavor/etc.

Even then most of these things can be accomplished another way that doesn't involve melting your family's brains every night.
