I read this entire thread in the last few days after basically ignoring it all year :shobon: and I was really upset I couldn't read all the columns you were linking because IP is so retarded. It's a shame how lovely it and 411mania has become. I used to go there all the time for Keith, Hyatt, Eric, and others. Now the sites themselves are basically impossible to access most of the time.

Hope you get your columns up somewhere good. :)

Any truth to the rumors that you were buried by IP, and that you could take any of them in a shoot fight? (And possibly shove your scrotum in their faces.)

And 411wrestling isn't that lovely anymore PE. The guy who does the Black Tiger reviews is pretty awful, and the main ROH reviewers have gotten a bit worse but most of their recappers/reviewers are pretty good. And while their columns are mostly trash, they are less trashy than most.

Hey you leave Mike Campbell alone mister

I went with IP because of Scott Keith et al going there. Hey, don't you know it, the only one who still writes regularly is Eris S :suicide:

edit: Widro just sent out an email saying that they switched ISPs and now have a couple dedicated servers. He's been keeping it secret :bang:

You know, Wrestlehut should really start its own website for columns and recaps. There's a lot of talent round these parts.

There was going to be something like this about a year ago, and then Evil Angry Cat was eaten by dingoes or something :smith:

I'd love to see one actually be launched and maintained, but it smells like another Goon Project to me.

I love how after destroying Misawa's face, Kawada modified his game plan from "kick him the face a bunch" to "kick him in the face a lot". Now that's psychology.

Stuff like that makes me wonder what Kobashi, Kawada and Misawa are like in real life. Are they just these insane freaks of nature, or are they all best friends with Shigeru Miyamoto, working in a garden and designing charming video games.

Because I can't see them being in between. They have to be either insane, or just the most kind, gentle people on earth. Normalcy would be a dissapointment.

Taue is an avid fisherman and loving father outside the ring. Kobashi comes across as a fuzzball. Takayama, a brutal disgusting-looking motherfucker, seems like a down-to-earth cool guy. Minoru Suzuki is good with fans in public but 110% dickhole when the bell rings. Etc. It's an odd duality but I think that's a result of being raised in Japan.

And Ditch you said nothing of Misawa! He solves brutal crimes in his spare time doesn't he. Or lives like that detective in Dark City, in a dark room drawing what his neck looks like after taking so many head drops all over the walls.

People are under a lot of stress, Bradley.
So lately I've really been getting into the 90's AJPW stuff, and now that I've seen a bunch, I'm curious about the story behind the matches. Are there "storylines" at all, or is this straight up competition? Are there heels and faces? Because the crowd seems to get equally excited for each guy's comeback/kickout.

Obviously there's some semblance of a feud, since the guys (Kawada/Misawa, Kobashi/Misawa) wrestle each other so many goddamn times, but how is it put together? Is it just a "You beat me, now I beat you?" type of thing?

Here's some columns I wrote about certain big matches that goes into some of the rivalries. There's a mix of more 'wrestling as a sport' "competition" with some storylines, ie. who's feuding/teaming with who.

All Japan went from Jumbo vs Tenryu in the late '80s to Jumbo vs Misawa in '90-'92, to Misawa vs Kawada in the mid '90s, to Misawa vs Kawada vs Kobashi in the late '90s.

Here's some more on the basics of puro:

So did Muta when he did Final Battle 03. Although I guess his assumption was more logical since he did work as a heel in the US. It is probably better that they aren't aware of how many neckbearded fans they have in the US.

I'd have figured that enough Japanese guys either were over as faces or didn't get much heat in the '90s that most puro workers would catch on to the dying-down of racism. I mean was Muta really that boo'ed in his last WCW run

His last WCW stint was booked by Vince Russo and involved Vampiro and a match with Kronik. He probably felt like he would be booed on principle.
