Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Biscuits and Gravy.
Is there any way to get translated HUSTLE or DDT shows? The comedy awesomeness of both have made me wish I'd taken more than a semester of Japanese or a group of fansubbers at my disposal.

I've never really looked at the schedule for a puro tour before. Jesus, that looks grueling. I know that they take breaks but how can they put out such high quality matches over such a short period of time? I remember the Wrestlemania weekend triple shot for ROH messing up the roster pretty bad. How do the Japanese wrestlers do it on a regular basis?

They don't go as all-out in Japan as they do for brief appearances in the US. Lots of tags and 6-mans, not wrestling as fast, etc. Japan touring isn't in the same league as WWE touring for destroying the body, though it certainly takes its toll.

There really isn't anything like the death toll in Japan for a number of reasons, and how they tour is one of them. 3 weeks off at a time to rest, recover, hit the gym in quantities that they can't on the road, etc. Less stress on mind and body, less need for steroids and painkillers, not many recreational drugs available... fewer lives destroyed.

Oh hey look, Angle vs. Brock for the I.W.G.P. title ended up on YouTube:

1/2
2/2

Better than I would have expected actually, considering Brock's recent history. Still, Brock was alternating between looking like a monster whenever he'd perform a move, and basically plodding around looking lazy as all gently caress in between. Angle seemed pretty motivated here though.

EDIT: poo poo, I didn't notice it was already in the TNA thread. Oh well \/:)\/

Two semi-big shows in Japan today, highlighted by CIMA over Liger to win the top Dragon Gate title, and Suzuki retaining the Triple Crown with a "banned" leglock on Mutoh. C'mon, with Mutoh's knees he should tap to a friggin' half-crab.

The NWA site still lists the IWGP titles, so maybe both are in it?

The IWGP title is a New Japan title and not an NWA title. They'd have to rename Angle's the to IGF or World Martial Arts Championship or something

Inoki left New Japan to form the IGF (Inoki Genome Federation).

IGF recognizes Lesnar's reign as the IWGP Third Belt Championship even though New Japan stripped him of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in 2006. Lesnar kept the IWGP World title belt and defended it the other night in IGF as the IWGP Third Belt Championship, losing it to Kurt Angle. TNA recognizes Angle as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, even though he's really not.

Yes, it's confusing.

I totally agree. The three UFC PPVs I watched bored the poo poo out of me but the IGF show is unbelievably good. I especially liked the tag match. So it's a mix of puro with MMA? Like, the El Blazer/Romero match is obviously booked, but the Randleman/Otsuka fight wasn't?
