Electronic / Dance music fans should check out the residentadvisor.net podcast.

I downloaded the deadbeat mix (link), and I have to say the quality of it kicks rear end seeing as it's mixed from vinyl, and it contains some awesome tracks. It's about an hour long too.

I also have the last 4 mp3s from the residentadvisor podcast, and I can honestly say that if they were reasonably priced I would pay for them.

There is some great music released at https://www.polyfonken.com for free, I found it a couple years ago when some of it was used as the soundtrack for a very fun game called Zen Bondage.

Ghost Monkey - Tea for Miss Yamaha
This album has a kind of funky, Eastern-sounding chill-out sound. (I am bad at describing music.)

Polyfon Sound Lab - Free Dreams
This album has a more ambient and electronic sound, and is harder to get into, but if you're into that you'll like it. I would recommend the tracks Unaddressed Postcard, Bells Ringing, Static Folds and Sleep Now Darling to start with.

I haven't seen this show up, Sutemos is a great resource for free albums and EPs if you like IDM and similar electronica. Currently they have 19 releases you can download in high-quality DRM-free mp3.

The "Intelligent Toys" collections are a good way of getting into the artists you don't know.

I don't remember where I found this website, but it has a lot of free music. It's in Finnish though, so you might have to navigate and guess a little. They have lots of different kinds so I'm sure you'll find something you like.

The ever-changing Canadian "powerpop" group known as The Pettit Project releases an EP free, for all their fans called Free Dating Service EP. Each track ends with a member of the band leaving a message on a telephone dating service, good for a few chuckles even if you don't like the music.

Edit: Turns out they took down the free EP, but they offer up some nice Christmas songs on their PureVolume profile.

Carl Martin is the mind behind the artist Transient.
I suppose the best way to describe him is he does electronic music. He's done ambient cds such as Quiet EP, Quieter EP, and even Quietest EP.

Quietest EP is my personal favorite, but he doesn't do just ambient! He does techno, trip-hop, ones where he makes music via his palm pilot, trance. All are exceptionally great.

He also releases paid albums on all the usual places like Amazon, Itunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Connect, & Emusic. However, he has a last.fm all set up for you to listen to all his work (which he puts all the downloadable ones on Archive.org, while the rest he does not)

Post/Prog Rockers from the UK Oceansize have recorded an instrumental prog version of the Aled Jones classic "Walking In The Air" from "The Snowman" cartoon film.

It's quite loud and raucous, and sounds like something off Effloresce.

As promised, a few songs from my 14-year project called "Das Gift". It gets compared with Pink Floyd, Perfect Circle and Peter Gabriel – kinda melancholy, emotional and melodic. Drop in at my band Myspace below (click image below) and let me know what you think!

Also added a couple live tracks. Still working through red tape to release covers of NIN, Floyd, Cure, Depeche Mode for a gritty live album. At concerts I've been drumming AND singing. Definitely a compromise playing as a 3-piece, but hopefully interesting!

Here is a self released EP by Iceland's Seabear called Singing Arc. It is some nice folk pop/rock, with some electronic elements (more of sequenced organic sounds, than synths). Think Sufjan Stevens meets Múm.
