Update on the title: At today's DDT show at Sumo Hall (claimed 8000+ attendance), Dino won a match where 9 belts were on the line, 8 of those being joke titles. Among them is a belt with a panda face as the plate, the GAY Anal title, and DDT's hardcore title (the one that isn't 24/7). I am hoping that he carts them around in a wheelbarrow. Main event was Ibushi over HARASHIMA for DDT's main title edit: TAG TITLE MATCH PREVIEW VIDEO PACKAGE~~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQe7WTux4pk Ditch fucked around with this message at 21:39 on Aug 23, 2009 |

I've recently gotten a few of my friends into pro-wrestling and last night I you-tubed the brutal Kobashi vs Misawa fight and The great Muta vs Jushin Liger, needless to say I think I may have raised their expectations a little too high.

Eh, I started with Misawa vs Kobashi and I managed to keep finding new stuff to enjoy. Muta vs Liger is fun but hardly one of the best ever. I can point out some more matches to pimp if you want, though some background on the viewers' preferences would help.

They really got into the mad suplexin and sheer destruction of the Kobashi fight and the character of the great muta fight, the mask ripping and misting. So yeah any links some to bad rear end destructive misting stuff would be great thanks. Oh and they liked Vaders stuff alot too.

They don't pack Korakuen with any regularity, and their fanbase is uniquely primed to understand having a Wrestlemania show that's way bigger than anything else. Well, them and New Japan. Plus supposedly the wrestlers did a ton of ticket selling. That said they've got to be in better shape than Zero-One. Maybe HUSTLE too.

All Japan sold out Sumo Hall from the looks of things. Takayama retained over Suwama and will face Kojima next, which I expect to be a title change. The big news out of the event is that they signed Hall of Famer Masakatsu Funaki to a 1 year contract. Funaki was one of the founders of Pancrase along with Minoru Suzuki, and like Suzuki he has years of pro-style experience but not much wear & tear on his body.

Dragon Gate claims 2300/2350 at Korakuen when ultra-packed standing room only is 2000 and a standard sellout is 1800. And they'll claim 2300 with several hundred seats empty. On a much more important note: Kobashi & Takayama vs Mutoh & Taue set for NOAH's Budokan show.

Have Kobashi and Mutoh ever actually faced each other?
|
# ? Sep 6, 2009 17:34 |
|
Nope. And Taue was never in with Mutoh either, but a) they're on the same side and b) nobody cares about dream matches for 2009 Taue. Also, more big stars to be added between the Budokan and Osaka shows! They'll probably sell out Budokan with the dream tag and it being the Misawa memorial, so we might only see Kawada in Osaka.

Wow just got done watching Keiji Muto 25th Anniversary Special: Keiji Muto & Masakatsu Funaki vs Masahiro Chono & Minoru Suzuki and the way the crowd goes insane for Funaki and Suzuki going at it is why I love wrestling. Next couple months of AJPW should be a must watch from even the most jaded puro fan.

Funaki is CRAZY ripped. That said I'm not getting my hopes up too much because his specialty isn't traditional style. He got a big response for the novelty of him doing basic pro wrestling spots; let's see what happens when the novelty wears off. In other news, half of the Chono 25th show main event has been announced. It's a 6-man, and one of the teams is Chono, Mutoh & Kobashi.

I think Osaka will be fine, they aren't awful like other cities tend to be. The problem for NOAH in Osaka is when they have half-full venues, something that's never good for heat. This will be a sellout.
