Exactly. I can't imagine how depressed Earworm must've gotten when he heard that he had to work with a drat Miley Cyrus song, of all things. I also want to add that the new Kleptones is loving boss.

Additionally, the whole 'making new lyrics out of existing lyrics' is kind of a 'new dog, old trick' sort of deal. You're definitely in the minority there. This song is blowing up. They're playing it at clubs around here now actually, it's weird.

I just saw Girl Talk live at the Gold Coast Big Day Out. Holy loving poo poo, it was amazing. He's also got really drat mainstream as a result of one of the youth radio stations here playing his stuff; there was several thousand in the crowd for an hour set. He played some new samples not used off his albums, too. Not even just remixes of his samples, completely new ones. I hope this is the start of a new album

Girl Talk can't be a top 40 artist because of his medium, but if copyright laws weren't as stiffiling as they are now, I think Feed The Animals would have been one of the best selling albums of 08... he's defiantly been part of mainstream culture since middle of 08.

To all those who care, the guy who made the Ocarina of Rhyme just released his new album, Vinyl Fantasy 7. He spent 3 more months working on this album than he did with Ocarina of Rhyme and as such everything sounds much better. http://teamteamwork.bandcamp.com/

I would like to draw attention to the mash-up artists known as Metaform: http://www.myspace.com/meta4m He is not a mash-up artist in the pop sense, like Girl Talk and E-603 and Milkman, but more along the lines of a hip-hop compositional sampler. The two closest comparisons I can find are DJ Shadow and The Avalanches. His best album, Standing on The Shoulders of Giants, sounds A LOT like Endtroducing, and he uses several well known jazz samples, including one featured prominently on DangerDOOM's well known song Basket Case. He's also tried his hand at compositional sampling stuff similar to Super Mash Bros, but I don't think he should switch over to pop-mashes quite yet...

I'm not entirely sure where I found this - I downloaded it at some point in the past week and can't figure out where it came from. I've just given it a listen, and whilst it isn't Girl Talk/E-603/Super Mash Bros standard, its got some good mixes in it and is definitely worth a listen if you're into frentic mashups. For anyone that cares, I just released my first EP, and I'd really love some criticism. I know that it pales in comparison to the likes of Girl Talk, Mash Bros, or E-603, but hopefully you'll still be able to enjoy it. If not, then I know exactly what I'm going to have to work on for my next album. http://dankasaurusrex.bandcamp.com/

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet but I just found out about djDOYOU. It's not up to par with Girl Talk or E-603, but the concept of his latest mixtape "Stuntin' Like Mufasa" is pretty fun. Taking classic Disney songs and mashing them up with modern hip-hop tracks. I think the mixtape is worth it alone for the Drake mashup. http://www.djdoyou.com/

That said, your song transitions (especially coming into that track) are a bit weak and need some smoother method of transition. I admire what you tried to do there but it seems very forced - it probably doesn't help that it's midway through a set of 4 bars. Indeed, it seems like there's 1 bar more than their should be to me. My opinion on them all: The first transition is great (intro to track 2). Track 2 to 3 seems a bit forced but not too bad. 3-4, as above, is quite forced. 4-5 is odd - it seems to fade out then come back and seems like it doesn't know what it wants to do. I'm not sure what's going on there. 5-6 is middle-ground - noticable but not jarringly so. 6-7 is good, but I think You Belong With Me suits a fade-out and restart like that. The music itself is fantastic - I enjoy it and find it fun - but I seem to be a bit of a jerk for good transitions so there's my critique for what it's worth.

Most Mashup is free. Milkman has one free album, and one for $10. It's rare that you'll find a mashup mix that isn't free.

Having loved Super Mash Bros, I decided to give Girl Talk a try. Holy poo poo Girl Talk is crap. Apart from them both doing mash ups, I honestly can't see how people can compare them at all. That being said, Girl Talk does have one useful purpose - it kept me awake and annoyed on my last leg of a trip back home when I was feeling tired.

That being said, Girl Talk does have one useful purpose - it kept me awake and annoyed on my last leg of a trip back home when I was feeling tired. I'm the complete other end of that scale. I've tried listening to Super Mash Bros again and again and I just can't gel with it. There are parts that I like without a doubt, but on the whole I just find it incredibly boring. But hey, art is subjective and all that jazz. What I will say is that Girl Talk has this weird ability to supplant songs in my mind with ones he's created, which speaks to how well he does what he does. So whenever 'Girl/Boy song' from Aphex Twin pops up on my ipod I immediately expect to hear some dubious rapping over the top of it, despite the fact I was a fan of the song way before it was used on 'Feed the Animals'. From a purely technical perspective though it's crazy the amount of work that goes into what he does. It's simply more than just 'lay this song on top of this one'. Just out of curiosity what album were you listening to?
