Plus they don't take themselves too seriously. Last year they had a show where all the matches were based around scenes from Romeo and Juliet.

And don't forget the awesome 108-man battle royale with Kaientai Dojo and DDT. I've been watching some BJW thanks to that match.

Akiyama vs Tenzan
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I40SKDXU

Akiyama beat Tenzan with the wrist-cluch exploder during the round-robin portion of the tournament. Both target bodyparts that factor heavily into the finishers section, and thus this is WAY better from a technical wrestling standpoint than one would ever expect from Tenzan.

Illinois Smith posted:

I'd more consider the October tag to have been Kawada's return. If Kawada vs Inoue was the first match since July '05 vs Misawa, that would have been a disgrace, but I also very much doubt they'd have done that.

Kawada's drat well gonna beat some caring out of him if he has to.

I don't really see the great decline in the quality of Morhishima's matches that people keep harping on about though.

Morishima used to be reliably in top 10 (of Japan) matches every year. Since beating Misawa for the title, he hasn't. His best performance since then was probably in the May '09 Budokan main event tag (he & Sasaki vs Misawa & Go) and that's gotten only tepid praise. He doesn't bring the house down like he used to. Not so much about sucking, as a lack of being actively good.

I think Japanese wrestlers just really dig that movie. DDT did a whole thing on their New Year's show where they first showed a video package of the whole roster reenacting the story (with added chronic flatulence and a stripper that was way fatter) and then they did their own version of Randy's final match (with a different guy than Sasuke as Randy), complete with jump off the top -> cut to black screen -> One Trick Pony credit sequence. It was glorious.

This match takes place in Hawaii, and Jumbo is a babyface despite being on US soil. Bock is way underrated because AWA was always an also-ran, man could he bring the old-school matwork. Crap finish but it's before 1989 so that's to be expected.

That match was... weird for the first 10 minutes. The strike exchange near the end was pretty awesome and Necro is way over in Japan.

DREAM should book Necro for Super Hulk 2 if it ever happens. It would be the only way they could top Jose Canseco.

Sugiura will miss the upcoming short tour with a curse arm fracture. The key is if he can make the big-ish show on the 28th, and if not that, then can he return for the big singles tournament tour on April 10th. Though maybe he wouldn't have been in the tourney anyway.
