Still a really good album though and that new TWDY song is awesome.

I'm just now realizing I forgot to post about this in here, but I saw Caspian and Arms And Sleepers about a week ago. Arms And Sleepers was great, really pretty ambience with some nice beats and deep bass. Probably the best concert opener I've ever seen. And then Caspian absolutely TORE poo poo UP. Honestly, it was the most fun post-rock show I've ever seen. Mono is the best emotional post-rock show I've seen, but Caspian was just energetic as gently caress and really a blast to watch.

So yeah, if you get a chance, go see them!

Came to post that. Another favourite from the test tour. These songs have sounded great live AND on the record, which is refreshing but I suppose it's to be expected when a lot of your work is electronically generated.

I hadn't really paid attention to Maserati, even though I saw them open for Mono and recognized their drummer when the poor guy killed himself in an elevator shaft.

Anyway, I decided to give them a honest listen and I gotta say I like them -- Inventions for the New Season is a good album.

I saw them a week before the drummer died and that dude absolutely stole the show. I count myself so fortunate now to have seen them when he was playing with them.

But yeah, their music is great. My two favorites from them are Show Me The Season

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At7ZIIrA0Rc

and Monoliths

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKSRvqnrajQ

Not surprisingly, they were also my favorites that they played live. I felt they put the most energy into these two, but the whole show was energetic as gently caress, really. Lots of fun to experience.

Yeah. It was pretty unusual that they put the drummer up front, and it quickly became really obvious why. The guy was a machine.

It did feel like every single of their songs however started with a quiet-loud sudden double crash and it was hard for me to tell them apart, having never heard them before. The one that I do remember is 12/16, something about it is just catchy for me.

From what I remember, one of the band members lives really far away from the other two so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a distance issue that caused it. At any rate, it's a shame, they were a fantastic band. I loved how well they integrated samples into their music.

Went to see Caspian last week and it was absolutely fantastic. Didn't know much about Arms and Sleepers going in, but they put on a really solid, atmospheric show and are cool as poo poo to boot. Caspian played well over an hour (despite not being the headliner) and hit all my favorites save one (Of Foam and Wave, which hopefully I'll get to hear that when they come back on the 26th  ). They closed the show with "Sycamore" which culminated in an 8-man percussion session (comprised of the entire band and A&S), and it was truly something to behold. Awesome, awesome show.

Hopefully not everyone's already aware of this, but if you love GYBE or ASMZ the Internet Archive's Live Music Archive has a large collection of very high quality recordings (there are some bad quality recordings as well, but the good ones are amazing), all with the bands' permission.

Most shows are available in FLAC and MP3. I'll list some of my favourites that I tend to listen to more than the actual albums.

Godspeed You Black Emperor!: http://www.archive.org/details/GodspeedYouBlackEmperor

http://www.archive.org/details/gybe2003-05-14.shnf
Has unreleased and somewhat rare tracks Albanian and the complete Gamelan. Very very good recording. I love this version of Moya.

http://www.archive.org/details/gybe2001-09-28.shn
One their best performances I've heard. There is another version of this show by a different taper up as well, but I prefer this one. I love John Hughes/She Dreamt She was a Bulldozer (its a movement from Antennas to Heaven).

A Silver Mt Zion: http://www.archive.org/details/ASilverMtZion

http://www.archive.org/details/asmz2001-01-25.sdb.flac16
Decent quality from the original sound board tape from the He Has Left Us days, not many of these shows around.

http://www.archive.org/details/asmz_2006-05-02_aud2.flac16
Has an amazing version of There is a River in the Valley Made of Melting Snow, the rest of the show is also really great, but that one performance stands out.

http://www.archive.org/details/asmz2005-06-16.mic.flac16
Quality recording with great performances and lots of chatting with the audience in between. Everything about this show is brilliant.

http://www.archive.org/details/asmz2008-11-01.4060.flac
Thirteen Moons album, audience requests Microphones in the Trees (someone asked for this earlier) and they also play Metal Bird. This is one of the best quality audience recordings I have ever heard.

Explosions in the Sky: http://www.archive.org/details/ExplosionsintheSky
They also have a large collection of shows up, I haven't listened to any of these though.

Here's a list of all the bands with collections in the Live Music Archive: http://www.archive.org/browse.php?mediatype=collection&collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fcreator

If Little Red Riding Hood should show up with a bazooka and a bad attitude, I expect you to chin the bitch.
This Will Destroy You have released a new track in aid of an Amnesty International group. I can presume its off their new album (which after talking to guitarist Chris King after their gig in Camden last november, should be coming out around June/July time), and can be found third from the bottom of the USA list:

http://www.buffetlibredjs.net/nordamerica.html

And its as predictable as I expected. This almost sounds note for note exactly like the quiet part of Brutalism from the "Field Studies" split E.P. I kinda dig the xylophone/percussion noise track, but the song itself just doesn't sound that original to them at all. I used to be (and still am, to some degree) a huge fan of TWDY, even citing them as my favourite band for well over a year and a half. Even got the pleasure of meeting them (as mentioned before) last year and telling them that myself, which was an amazing moment for me.
But they were unfortunatly playing after And So I Watch You From Afar who, at the time, I'd never heard of and are now, in my opinion, the best live band I've ever seen. TWDY still put on a great show after, but I was so in awe and burnt out after ASIWYFA to really enjoy it, and since then I've kinda tossed them aside.
Bit unfair really, and I'm familiar with the TWDY-rage this thread has collected the last few months but I do genuinely hope this track isn't a whole representation of the album to come and that it will rekindle my love for this band as I used to have.

EDIT: did anyone in this thread happen to be at the same show at the Camden Underworld last year? There was another decent band who went on first, but I can't remember for the life of me what their name was and would love to find it out

I went up to Birmingham to see ASIWYFA when they opened for TWDY and just stole the show. I also managed to see them twice last week and they have got to be one of the best live acts I've ever seen. Their The Letters EP has completely blown me away, I probably listen to it 2-3 times a day.

Last.fm says it might have been eaststrikewest at the Camden gig, I've heard some good stuff about them and they are on my 'to listen to' list.
