Pretty sure IVP Videos does. THE BOARD is always posting links to matches though.

How is IVP anyway? I've been meaning to pick up some Joshi DVDs from them.

IVP is a "get what you pay for" situation. Sometimes you get low-ish video quality, especially stuff that aired before 2005. Sometimes you don't get exactly what you ordered; sometimes discs don't work. When Slambamjam has $3 sales, that's a better way to go than IVP.

All Japan vs New Japan 1.0: The most crowd heat For the second-ever wrestling show at Tokyo Dome on February 10th 1990, New Japan was able to get a three-match series with All Japan. The most famous of these, Vader vs Hansen, is one I just can't get into. The other two, which were native vs native, were only available on a "raw feed" bootleg. GOOD LORD THE CROWD. These are must-see for the crowd, but also everyone busts rear end. Jumbo & Yatsu vs Kimura & Kido http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MTOF11H9 All Japan's top native team against a slapped-together pair of New Japan midcarders. But it works! Tenryu & Tiger Mask (Misawa) vs Choshu & George Takano http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LSQO9DVY Meltzer says this match was the real draw of the show. Tenryu vs Choshu was great in the '80s and is great here; Takano is someone I doubt any of you have seen and he brings it; Misawa has his best performance in a while. Crap finish though.

CC is correct. Bret vs Misawa is not good and I know it's hard not to want to see it but it just doesn't work. But it's still better than the Steamboat vs Misawa '89 disaster.

This was The Hitman Vs. Tiger Mask right? I kept seeing pictures around of it and to be honest those pictures are what started my like in the Tiger Mask gimmick.

I think there was a serious miscommunication between Misawa and Bret. Bret didn't particularly like Japan as it is and thought Tiger Mask II would work exactly like the original Tiger Mask. I doubt the two men had much communication so it really just fell apart. This happens a lot when guys who don't usually work Japan go in and try to work their type of match against someone who works their type of match.

Another thing about ordering from IVP: if you want to buy a lot of discs, send an email asking for a quote. His costs go down considerably with each marginal disc, so he charges less. Also he has super-cheap sales on occasion, but not that often anymore.

Ho-hum, just my 2nd favorite match ever Misawa & Akiyama vs Kawada & Taue, Tag League 1996 Final http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q89ANS3P Misawa/Akiyama vs Kawada/Taue had some GOOD and VERY GOOD results but nothing nearly on par with the '95 matches with Kobashi. Until here. They do so much right in this, that it's hard to talk about how it's good without spoiling it. Misawa is still The Man and it still takes a world-beating effort to put him down; Taue is grow'd up and can carry Kawada at times (!!!); the Kawada vs Akiyama story that played out through the year gets paid off. Great pace, great storytelling, great action. If you liked the other All Japan epics I've posted, get onnnnnn this.

Ditch, I still have a wrestling bug that needs satiated, however WWE and TNA are not providing it for me and the commentary of both downright chased me away. Who are some good new Puro stars that I should check out? I have been out of the loop for quite some time, so anyone after Naomichi Marufuji beating Ryuji Hijikata would be new to me. Any particular wrestlers and/or shows?

Not that much has changed in the last 18 months or so as far as new wrestlers. Of course part of that depends on what you're looking for... IMO the best young talent is in Big Japan. Here's the DVDVR Best of 2009 vote, which is a reasonably good guide: http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=51264 And "the list" for what people like so far in 2010: http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=51388

watching Dragon Gate's Dead or Alive 2010. This promotion really fell off the cliff. First two matches were insanely bad. The third one was slightly better but still really slow. Hopefully the rest of the card makes up for it. the card: 1) Super Shisa vs Takuya Tomakomai 2) K-ness & Susumu Yokosuka vs NOSAWA Rongai & MAZADA 3) Loser Returns to Dark Matches : Akira Tozawa vs Cyber Kong 4) Open the Brave Gate Title : Tigers Mask (c) vs Dragon Kid 5) Open the Triangle Gate : Akebono & Masaaki Mochizuki & Don Fujii (c) vs Takuya Sugawara & Yasushi Kanda & Kzy 6) WORLD-1 vs WARRIORS Full Confrontation Naniwa-Style Elimination Match : Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino & BxB Hulk & Naoki Tanisaki vs CIMA & Gamma & Genki Horiguchi & Ryo Saito 7) Open the Dream Gate Title : YAMATO (c) vs Shingo Takagi coconono fucked around with this message at 05:22 on May 13, 2010 |
